5th Annual Big Game 5K Run / Walk

WHAT
A 5K supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg. Start your “new” year off with some extra motivation to stay fit and support one of Lynchburg’s most dynamic non-profits. Our venue and course will use the Percival's Island Natural Area and Blackwater Creek Bikeway. The race distance is a 5K (3.1 miles)!  Wear your favorite team jersey, hat, or anything fun that shows your Big Game spirit!

We want our community to have fun, exercise and support the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg mission of doing "Whatever It Takes to Build Great Futures" by creating a place where youth and teens learn to grow and become leaders in the community.

TEAM COMPETITION:
Team registration is open to all participants during online registration. Please select your team name from the list provided towards the end of the registration process.

A minimum of 5 participants qualify as a team. There is not a limit on the maximum number of team members. Top 5 team members cumulative ‘chip time” will be used for ranking. The team with the lowest cumulative time will be recognized. The team with the most finishers will also be recognized at the completion of the run.

Team registration closes Wednesday February 11th. No additional team entries will be accepted after Wednesday February 11th

5K:  $30 (Oct 10th - Jan. 1st) || $35 (Jan. 2nd- Mar. 19th) || $40 Packet Pickup & Race Day (Mar. 20th - 21st)

*5K Youth:  $20 (Oct 10th - Jan. 1st) || $35 (Jan. 2nd- Mar. 19th || $30 Packet Pickup & Race Day (Mar. 20th - 21st)
*Please note that 5K Youth pricing does not include a race shirt. A shirt can be added to the registration for an additional $10.00

Virtual 5K:   $35 (Feb. 5th - Mar. 19th) || $40 Packet Pickup & Race Day (Mar. 20th - 21st)

Family Pricing:
Register your immediate family members in a group of 4 or more and save $5.00 per entry. Discount for Family Pricing can only be applied when all family members are registered together at the same time. Family pricing cannot be applied to separate registrations or applied retroactively. Family pricing ends Thursday March 19th.

Lynchburg Road Runners Club Member Discount:  
A $5.00 discount is available to current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members. Discounts will not be given after February 1st.  Participant membership must be current on race day with LRRC membership roster found on RunSignUp. Discount will be given at checkout automatically at checkout. Club refunds and/or discounts will not be given after completing online race registration. Discount does not apply to special 12 & under pricing. The LRRC discount is not applied NEW YEARS DAY.

Please note:  A LRRC discount is valid only for participants whose membership is current on race day (2/07/2026). A LRRC membership expiring prior to race day will not be eligible for the club discount.

T-SHIRTS:

Participants registered by Friday, January 16th are guaranteed a commemorative, long sleeve,  t-shirt. Extras will be available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.

Youth 5K registration does not include a shirt. However, a shirt can be added for $10.00. The guaranteed shirt deadline will still apply for shirts added to a Youth Registration.

Top Male & Top Female Overall Master (40+)
Top 3 Male & Female in each age group. 12 & Under, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Older

Note:  Awards will not be mailed. Those unable to attend the awards ceremony may pickup their awards at Riverside Runners, 2480 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503 beginning Monday, March 23 at noon.

LYNCHBURG ROAD RUNNERS RACE SERIES
This is the 1st race of the 2026 Lynchburg Road Runners Race Series. All finishers are eligible to score points towards the LRRC Series ranking.

RESULTS
Official results will be posted on the event's RunSignUp Results Page.

REFUND POLICY:
Registration fees and purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable. Entries cannot be transferred to another participant or deferred to another event, or the same event but another year.

CANCELATION POLICY:
If the "in-person" event is canceled for any reason, those participants will automatically be moved to a "virtual event".

INCLEMENT WEATHER DATE:
If this event is canceled due to weather. It will be rescheduled for Saturday, February 14th or entries will be transferred to the "virtual" event.

*This event has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 21st. Previously registered participants unable to attend this new date are asked to contact the race so they can be moved to the virtual event.

STROLLERS & PETS:
Strollers and pets are prohibited from participating. This is for the safety of all.
