Race Resources
Run for a Cause
The featured charity will be the Annapolis Police Foundation, whose mission is to support Annapolis police officers in need and support police outreach in the community.
CSE will create the “Charity Chaser” which will feature an Annapolis police officer running in the event. The Annapolis Running Festival will make a donation for every runner that the “Charity Chaser” passes along the course. “On behalf of the Annapolis Police Foundation, we are excited to be involved with the event and look forward to having the “charity chaser” promotion raise some funds for the foundation and shine a light on the good works that our officers and foundation do in the community” said Annapolis Police Foundation Chairman Brian Finan.
https://annapolispolicefoundation.org/
The half-marathon route will cover a 1.5 mile stretch of the B&A Trail in a picturesque out-and-back portion of the race route. We appreciate the access to the trail and invite you to make a donation toward this wonderful cause.
The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails is a 501 (c) 3, all volunteer organization dedicated to promoting, protecting and enhancing our county trails. Since our incorporation over 20 years ago, we have worked closely with the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks. In order to further our mission, we coordinate with various community groups, businesses, churches and individuals. We have created and monitored gardens and flowerbeds, installed rain gardens, a BayScape project, cleared debris, mulched, pruned, added a Legacy Garden and one specifically for pets, and art such as Planet Walk to spots along the BWI Trail, the B&A, Broadneck, WB&A and South Shore Trails. With 41.8 miles and more being added each year, your contribution will help further our impact, helping maintain the beauty of our trails for years to come.

CSE will be working with a number of local charities in Annapolis and the Anne Arundel County area to raise funds through the event. If your organization would like to be part of the Annapolis Running Festival, please email our Charity Team Coordinator Kimber Raheb at kimber@corrigansports.com

Social Teams
Like your Grandmother always used to say, THE MORE THE MERRIER! With that in mind, the Annapolis Running Festival is giving you added incentives to build a SOCIAL TEAM and run as a group.
SOCIAL TEAM BENEFITS
SOCIAL TEAMS as small as 10 people get discounted entry fees for signing up with a team, regardless of when then register.
Social Teams of 25 or more can earn special race day accommodations including a reserved tent for your team. (Tent space may be limited. First 20 teams to reach the 25-person benchmark are guaranteed tent space.)
HOW DOES IT WORK
When registering you will have the option to Join a Group/Team. All Members of a SOCIAL TEAM are linked by their team name and password. As your team grows, everyone benefits, even those who register first! The system will automatically refund everyone on the team who has already registered and charge the new team members the new rate.
- Teams of 10 or more participants in any race and everyone saves $10
Registrants that do not initially register with their group may not be eligible for refunds or discounts. Social Teams are available for participants in the live race, virtual participants will not be eligible to join groups and will not count towards your runner total.
WHY RUN AS A SOCIAL TEAM?
Running with a friend (or a group!) really is so much more fun than running alone. Once the race is over, a team is there to celebrate, and relax after the accomplishments of the day. Plus, they’ll keep people going and motivate them to finish strong if they’re starting to feel sluggish mid-race. Teams get bonus points if they wear matching team t-shirts!
Before the race even starts, a team is a built-in training support system. A dedicated team will spend some time running together before the race starts, getting to know each member’s quirks and pace. An individual can push off or ignore scheduled training runs, but a team won’t let them get away with skipping them! Besides support, team members also make for great accountability partners, and will help members to be completely prepared come race day.
Need help creating or joining your social team?
You can easily create or join your social team during registration! Registrants that do not initially register with their group may not be eligible for refunds or discounts. Social Teams are available for participants in the live race, virtual participants will not be eligible to join groups and will not count towards your runner total. If you already registered, and didn't join or create a team CLICK HERE for instructions!

ABOUT THE 3.1 MILE COURSE
The MedStar Health Annapolis 5K course will start Navy Marine Corps Stadium. We are exploring some new options for the course which we should be able to announce soon. CSE will continue to seek the best and most scenic routes even after 2026.

Chessie Challenge

CALLING ALL DECKHANDS! A NEW VOYAGE AWAITS
Aye, Aye Matey! If you have been in these parts for a while like I have, then you know the legend of Chessie. Chessie is the mythical sea monster that trolls the Chesapeake Bay and has been part of sailor lore for a lifetime [Learn More ]. I have been sailing these waters since I was a wee lad and ne’er set an eye on her. Oh, but I have heard the tales!
My crew and me are setting out on a journey to find this Chessie. We’re looking for a few more deckhands if you are up for an adventure. We pay handsomely too—a few shiny medals and other lavish gifts await you. It’s a long voyage, about 7 months, but if you have the sea legs for it, we welcome you aboard!
As I say, I haven’t seen her myself, but some say Chessie has green eyes and will swallow your ship whole. Others say she is a docile creature who saves sailors that fall overboard and protects the Bay from evil. I don’t know what to believe but I do know one thing—we need all the help we can get to track her down and see what she is really about.
Rumor has it that she lies in the calms of the Severn River near Annapolis during the winter. She awakens from her hibernation come springtime to begin feeding once the landlubbers start pretending to be mariners near Ego Alley.
Once she’s had her fill there she travels north and spends quite a while in the Patapsco rummaging near Ballmer- sorry Bal – TEE – More. Some say she is there from June until October.
As the season turns, it’s been told that she heads south to the mouth of the Bay and out into the mighty Atlantic. Quite a few sightings in the Isle of Wright Bay in late fall. Lots of times she’s seen in the waters outside Seacret’s but I think its something else making those images appear if you know what I mean.
2025 MEDAL & GIFT - 2026 COMING SOON
We have a solid navigational plan and think we can track her down with your help. We hope you will come along on our odyssey and be part of the great Chessie Challenge of 2026!
To enter the Chessie Challenge participants are required to register for the following:
1) Any distance at the Annapolis Running Festival (March 21, 2026)
2) Any distance at the Baltimore 10-Miler (June 6, 2026) OR the Baltimore Running Festival (October 17, 2026)
3) Any distance at the Ocean City Running Festival (November TBD, 2026)

In addition to all of the premiums, medals and other amenities for participating in each race, Registrants of the Chessie Challenge will receive:
• $15 off the entry fee for the bundle – $5 off each race is taken automatically when you register using the BUNDLE option*
• An extra Chessie Challenge medal - A new INTERACTIVE medal for 2025 is here! This one features a large design and pictures lovable Chessie swimming in each of the race destinations. You can turn the dial to reveal your favorite location.

CHIP TIMING
The event will utilize the best timing technology available. The B-tag technology offers runners a streamlined race experience with timing tags attached to participant bib. This method eliminates the need to scan your chip at the expo or to return the chip following the race, which means no more sitting down to undo your shoe lace just after your run and you no longer have to worry about a charge for a lost chip.
Tips to have your time accurately recorded:
- Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso
- Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (do not fold or wrinkle)
- Race bib is pinned in all four corners
- Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
Virtual runners: The 2026 virtual race will be self-timed. You will have the opportunity to print a race bib and report your finish time into the official race results.

Headphone Policy
Headphones are permitted, however, to enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, the Annapolis Running Festival encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of all its race distances. We believe your race experience and those around you will be greatly enhanced by leaving the headphones at home or in the car.
Running headphone-free allows opportunities to develop camaraderie with your fellow runners and to enjoy everything the race has to offer. Plus, volunteers and spectators will be on the course cheering you on and providing directions to help get you to the finish line.
Runner safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for our event. Please be mindful of the other participants and respect the race personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone. If wearing an iPod or other audio device results in you being unable to hear verbal instructions or commands; approaching vehicles or course marshals on foot or on bicycles, you may be asked to relinquish the device.
Cancellation Policy
Corrigan Sports wants provide a safe race environment for all participants. Should there be a time that we feel it is unsafe to start a race or proceed with the race, once it has started, the following policy may be enforced;
If weather or other conditions present a danger to participants, we maintain the right to cancel or modify the race. Public safety officials and medical authorities will be consulted prior to any race cancellation or modification.
The two primary influences on the cancellation decision are heat index and severe weather.
Heat Index: High heat and humidity measured in accordance with the American College of Sports Medicine’s recommendations for participation in endurance events could result in cancellation or alteration of the race. The measurement system is based on the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT), which is used to determine heat risk to runners. It is calculated by an equation that includes ambient temperature (20%), relative humidity (70%), and radiant heat (10%). The stratification of risk is as follows for runners in shoes, shorts, and a shirt
Should the race be cancelled or altered after the official start due to a heat emergency, runners are to slow their pace to a walk and proceed to the staging area with caution. Hydration stations will be available along the course, as well as medical personnel. Additional fluids may be available; but it should not be assumed that fluid availability would be limitless, due to logistical constraints.
Severe Weather: Cancellation is strongly advised when severe thunderstorms with the threat of lightning threatens the course and are forecasted to continue throughout the time frame of the event. Alteration of the course or race length may be implemented to ensure a safer race environment.
The above conditions will be recognized as “an act of god”, and will not result in the refunding of race entry fees or future race credits.
Should the municipality, beyond CSE’s control, impact CSE’s ability to conduct the event, the same refund policy will be in effect.
Corrigan Sports asserts that each runner assumes a personal responsibility when entering a running event and accepts the potential risks. Corrigan Sports encourages all runners to take all precautions and cooperate with directives given during the race by event personnel.
Corrigan Sports will not knowingly place the participants in danger and burden the medical support community.
Unfortunately, almost all race related expenses will have been incurred prior to the actual race. Should the race be forced to cancel, the financial impact on the race would not be any different than if the race was held in its entirety. Thus, refunding of entry fees would devastate the financial future of the race.
