Each year, families, self-advocates, educators, and community partners come together for a joyful day designed with everyone in mind. From a vibrant resource fair and live music to sensory-friendly activities and family fun, this event creates space to learn, connect, and feel supported—exactly as you are.
For more than 21 years, the ASNV Walk and Family Funfest has raised over $500,000, with every dollar reinvested directly into the community through education, advocacy, and meaningful support for autistic individuals and their families. Hundreds of families across Northern Virginia have benefited from this collective generosity—and the ripple effect continues to grow.

Do I need to register to participate?
Everyone must register if they want to attend the event for the activities and/or walk. If you want to only support financially and not attend the event, then you can provide a donation and not register for the event.
How do I register for the walk?
To register for the Walk, click on the "Sign Up" button and complete the registration information. You will able to register more than one person and for each person you will be able to choose a t-shirt size and choose what fundraising team (if any) you’d like your fundraising to count toward. If you are starting a new fundraising team, we suggest that you only sign up yourself and create the team. Then go back in and sign up others, such as your other family members. When registering them, you'll be able to see the team you already created and join that team during the registration.
What is a fundraising team, and how do I create one?
Everyone who registers for the event can add a donation, create an individual fundraising page, and create or join a team fundraising page. If you create a team fundraising page, then others can join your team when they register so their registration and donations are tracked with your fundraiser team.
How do I join a fundraising team?
There are two ways to join an already existing fundraising team. One way is to click 'SIGN UP' and follow the steps to add your name and information to register. There will be a question, "Would you like to join or create a Group/Team?" Click "Yes" if you would like to join an existing team or create a new fundraising team. Another way to join a team is to click "Group/Teams" on the sidebar. You will be able to see the different teams. Click "Join" next to the team you would like to join. Then it will take you through the registration process to add your name and information.
Do registration fees count toward my team total?
All your donations and a percentage of your registration fees do count towards your fundraising amount. This includes individual and team fundraising.
How much money do I have to raise?
There is NO fundraising minimum, so set your goal to whatever you feel comfortable with!
Where does the money go?
All proceeds are collected directly by the Autism Society of Northern Virginia. Funds are used to create inclusive and sensory-friendly events, opportunities for social groups, and increased advocacy for policy changes.
How do I donate to an individual or team without registering to attend the event?
Click on the "DONATE" button at the top of the left sidebar. Then, you will have an option to click if you would like to donate on behalf of a team or individual fundraiser.
I still can't figure this out. Who should I contact?

Are there processing fees for registrations or registrations?
ASNV is paying the processing fees for both the donations and the registrations, so this can be as simple and easy for you as possible to help support this cause. The fees come out of the registration and donation payments.

Vendors & Exhibitors
We invite any and all for-profit and non-profit vendors to join our upcoming Autism Walk & Family Funfest!
Our vendor/exhibit area will be inside a large high school gym, very close to the track and other activities. It will also be near where we are giving out event t-shirts and our raffle, so we are sure to have a huge crowd.
Vendors will be provided with a table and two chairs.

Payments can be made using the donate button on the event website or can be made via check.

8:00 am - Volunteers Arrival & Event Set-up
9:00 am - Exhibitors & Vendors Arrival & Set-up
10:00 am - Family Funfest Opens
11:45 am - Main Stage Presentation
(Please be seated in the bleachers with your team.)
12:00 am - Autism Walk (on the track)
1:15 pm - Raffle Awards Presentation (must be present to win)
2:00 pm - Family Funfest Closes & Event Clean-up
The entire event will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. During this time, we will have music, games, vendors, raffles, and more fun. The Autism Walk will begin at 12:00 pm (noon) and is a one-mile-long walk around a high school track. The walk will be clearly marked and on a smooth surface, friendly to strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs. Please consider forming a Walk Team to extend the reach of our efforts! Forming a team of family, friends, and co-workers is a great way to honor someone you know with autism. Proceeds benefit the Autism Society of Northern Virginia to support individuals and families affected by autism. Click on the PDF link below for the event flyer.
