Charlotte New Year's Day 5K 2027

Start your year off right with Charlotte's premier New Year's Day event!!

The race begins on the campus of UNC Charlotte and heads out on Toby Creek Greenway before finishing back on campus for an epic post-race party.

Race Registration includes:

• Custom race shirt
• Beer (21+) 
• Coffee
• Lunch and hot beverage from your choice of participating food vendors
• Kid Zone
• Finisher Medals!! 🏅

Awards will be given for the following categories:

 

Overall
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for Top Overall Male and Female

Age Groups
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for top Male and Female in the following age categories:
15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

 

BUT THERE'S MORE, TOO!

EXTRA AWARD CATEGORY!  All runners will be timed at the FIRST MILE of the race, and awards will be given to Top 3 Females and Top 3 Males who run the fastest FIRST MILE of 2025! Stay tuned for the reveal of this year's FIRST MILE award!

OR skip the drive and take the Light Rail to JW Clay Station!

Grab your free post-race food and hot beverage from one of our participating local food trucks!  Toast the new year with a beer from Armored Cow Brewery (21+, ID Required). 

Runners will find three tear-away tickets on their race bib for food, beer (21+) and coffee.

If you still want to challenge yourself, you can sign up for both the NOON Year's Eve 5K and the Charlotte New Year's Day 5K separately, but the bundle discount and exclusive swag are no longer available.
Both of these great New Year's races offer tons of great swag and fun for runners and walkers but you better hurry as both races are near capacity!

Registration includes post-race food, coffee, and beer (21+). Long sleeve performance shirt, finisher medal (NEW for 2025) are included while supplies last.

You can register for each race individually, using the links above. End 2024 with a beautiful run on the cross country trail at McAlpine Creek Park, then kick off 2025 with a tour of the University City area and the wonderful greenway system, ending on the amazing UNC Charlotte campus!

Are kids and spectators allowed? This event is open to the public and a great way to start your New Year!  Spectators are welcome at no charge, but must purchase a spectator pass if they want to partake in post-race food/beverages. Kids are welcome, but must be registered to enter the race course.   Are dogs allowed? There are NO DOGS ALLOWED at this event, except for registered service dogs.  Dogs are not permitted on UNC Charlotte campus at the post-race festival.
