Deck the Heels 5K Night Run

Get ready to light up the night with holiday cheer! Held the second Saturday of December each year, The Deck the Heels 5k Night Run is the perfect way to kick off the festive season. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, this event is open to everyone.

The course winds through the city streets, past beautifully decorated homes and twinkling holiday lights. Runners are encouraged to dress up in their most festive attire.

After the race, stick around for a post-run a holiday extravaganza with Santa, food, hot chocolate, music, and more! It's a great opportunity to catch up with friends and make new ones, all while soaking up the holiday atmosphere.

Glow-in-the-Dark accessories will be available at packet pickup.  We encourage runners to "Deck" themselves out for this festive Christmas event.

We are also pleased to announce the addition of the VIRTUAL Deck the Heels 5k for those that are unable to join us in person. Virtual participants are able to choose a 5k course and submit their time to our Results page.

ASSISTED PARTICIPANTS:
We are pleased to provide an opportunity for assisted participants to enjoy race day. An assisted participant is typically being pushed in a stroller "appropriate" for the event (ie.. hand break, tether, appropriate wheels). Both the participant being pushed and the pusher are required to register for this event. Assisted participants will start prior to the start and be ranked separately from the event. Both the pusher and assisted participant should indicate this classification during the registration process for our planning purposes.

RACE FOR FREE!  BECOME AN INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER
Participants can become an individual fundraiser and have their registration fee refunded if a fundraising goal of $200 is met no later than Wednesday, December 3rd.

REFER FRIENDS and SAVE $25!
Once registered, participants can share a unique registration used to refer friends to the event.  Those with 8 referrals will have $25 of their registration fee refunded.

T-SHIRTS:
Participants registered on or before Saturday, November 21ST are guaranteed.
A limited number of extra shirts will be available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.
Shirts are long sleeve and unisex sized.

Friday, December 11th (4:00PM - 7:00PM)
Saturday, December 13th (3:00PM - 4:30PM)

Race will start at Corner of Broad St. & Main Street and go north on Main Street.  Runners will turn around at intersection of Main St. & Lola Ave. at Miller and Wolf Dentistry.  Runners will proceed South on Main Street, crossing the bridge over the river.  Runners will continue on Main St. into Hurt, VA and proceed through the tunnel. Runners will turn around at stoplight at English Construction in Hurt, and then proceed north back on Main Street.  Finish line will be at corner of Main Street & Broad St.

As a virtual runner or walker you can participate from anywhere in the world on the 5K course.
