Saturday, May 9th

12:00 – Beer MILE
2:00 ish - Kids Donut Dash (this will take place after the Beer Mile so could start a little earlier or later than 2:00 depending on the number of participants).
 3:00 – Wiener Dog Derby
and a full day of run, dogs, beer, and FUN!

WHERE:
Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks
510 E Central Ave, Minot, ND

WHY:
We love running, dogs, and beer and we wanted turn those loves into a way to give back to the animal rescue organizations in our community.

This race is fun and social and is NOT a qualifier for the World Championship (yes that’s a real thing).

EVENTS:

5k Run/Walk and Dog Jog – This is a traditional 5K event and will be timed.  You can run it as fast as you can or jog/walk it for fun.  Feel free to bring your dog with you as this event is “for the dogs”, but dogs are not required!  All human participants will get a signature Hair of the Dog mug as well as a free post run beer at Atypical.

Beer Mile – Please join us for the 3rd annual Beer Mile!  4 Beers and a 1 Mile run! Here is how it is done..
     - Drink one full can of beer within the sectioned off Beer Zone on our course.
     - Run one loop of the 1/4 mile course. Simply follow the cones and back to the Beer Zone
     - You will repeat the above steps 3 more times.
     - If you "toss your cookies" (PLEASE use one of the garbage receptacles along the course for this purpose), you have to run a one lap penalty for this offense.
**Thankfully you don't have to consume an extra beer, just run an additional 1/4 mile.

Does that sound like an impossible feat?  Get four friends and sign up for a Relay Team!

** You will be required to show your driver’s license or proof of age. NO ID, NO RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS. All participants will be given a wrist bracelet that must be worn during the event.

All participants of the beer mile will get a signature Hair of the Dog mug as well as the four free Atypical beers used in the event.

Kids Donut Dash – A fun opportunity for the kids to get in on the action and for us to cheer them on!  This event is for children 12 and under and will require them to eat a donut quickly and then run 1/4 a mile. All participants will receive a Donut Dash participation medal.

Wiener Dog Derby – All Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes welcome. If we have enough registered Dachshunds we will have age categories but otherwise the top 3 dogs win.  Each Dachshund should bring two human assistants, one to let them go when the race director yells “go” and one to stand on the other end of the lane bribing them with food or treats to get them to the other end the fastest.  Each dog participant will get a treat bag and custom race bandana to wear at the event.

Packet Pickup and Day of Registration:
Packet pickup will be held Friday May 8th from 4:30-7:00pm at Atypical Brewery and Barrelworks as well as the morning of the event from 8:45-9:45am.  There will also be an additional beer mile packet pickup from 11-11:45 and a wiener dog check in from 1:30-2:00. Same day registration will be available for all events. Cash and credit cards accepted.

Signature Hair of the Dog shirts and stickers will be available for purchase as an add-on the day of the event with all profits going directly to the animal rescues.

Starting outside of Atypical and running to and around Bricks Studio building and back for each lap.

Relay Teams:  You may register a Relay team of 2-4 people to run the Beer Mile Relay.  You will choose who runs how many laps and in which order your team goes.

Awards: Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 Overall Beer Milers and Top Relay Team

Social Beer Milers: You may walk but you will not be permitted to leave the course and come back to finish.

HAIR OF THE DOG BEER MILE RULES

1. Each competitor drinks four beers and runs four laps around our 400M loop (start with chugging a beer, then run a lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap - finish).

2. Beer must be consumed before the lap begins within the transition area known as the BEER ZONE. The transition area is a 9-meter zone

3. Beer will be provided by Atypical Brewery.  All participants must be 21+. You will be required to show your driver’s license or proof of age. NO ID, NO RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS. All participants will be given a wrist bracelet that must be worn during the event.

4. The race begins with competitors lined up on the mile starting line, drinking the first beer in the transition zone described in the step above. Competitors can walk/move in the transition area while drinking, but all beer must be consumed in the transition area before setting off to run a lap.

5. Competitors may “"toss your cookies." There is a one loop penalty for this offense. Thankfully you don't have to consume an extra beer, just run an additional 1/4 mile. Vomiting more than once during the race still only requires one penalty lap at the end.

6. You must prove that all beer was sufficiently drank. This can be achieved by tipping the empty beer over your head after each chug to verify an empty vessel or by showing one of the beer tenders in the transition area and getting the thumbs up from them
