About Iron Mountain Legend

Iron Mountain Legend trail run is held on the epic trails of Iron Mountain just outside Caddo Valley on DeGray Lake.  With 11K, 28K and 42K options...there is something for everyone. Post-race food and drink, plus a unique finisher medal will make it a day to remember.  The start/finish line will be at the Iron Mountain Lodge & Marina. On-course aid stations with lots of tasty treats to keep you fueled for a day in the Ouachita Mountains.

Race Rules

  • Leave No Trace.
  • All runners must wear assigned race numbers. It is the runner's responsibility to ensure his/her race number is recorded at all manned aid stations.
  • Average temperatures on race day: low 43 degrees, high 68 degrees..
  • At no time may a runner ride in or on a vehicle of any kind. Violators will be disqualified.
  • If you get off the official course, you must return on foot to the point at which you left the prescribed race route.
  • Medical personnel, the race director, and aid station captains have the right to pull a runner if they feel they are a danger to himself/herself.
  • If you have to drop from the race, make sure that a race official at an aid station is notified. Failure to do this could result in search and rescue, which could be at runners expense.
  • A runner may have one pacer at a time. 
  • Showers are available at the Iron Mountain boat dock area located next to the marina.
  • Absolutely No Littering...

Course Details

Description:

Starting at Iron Mountain Marina, there is a 0.6 mile section of jeep trail which turns into single track. The trail is full of manageable rocks and roots with long flowing up and down sections. Also note, there is a highway crossing which will be managed by course marshals.  RUNNERS PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN CROSSING PAVED ROADS. The course will be marked with signs and volunteers will be at key intersection points as well. Ultimately, it’s the runner's responsibility to know the course.

Routes:

Time Limits:

  • 9 hours total - 7 am start for 42K
  • 42K Course - Runners who have not made it to the 16 mile mark by 1:00pm will be routed to the finish line (this will result in a 21 mile run).

Aid Station Mile Marker Locations:

  • 11K - 2, 5.2, 5.3
  • 28K - 2, 6.7, 8.3, 11.7, 15
  • 42K - 2, 6.7, 8.3, 11.7, 15.3, 17.6, 20.7, 24.1

Aid Station fare will include water, electrolytes, Coke, cookies, chips, candy, beef jerky, potatoes, PB & J sandwiches and fruit.  No Advil, Aspirin or other pain relievers will be supplied. This race will have cupless aid stations.  All participants should be prepared to have their own cups.  You may purchase cups from a retail provider, order a package during registration or through our store option.  Limited quantities will be available for purchase onsite.

Runners receiving aid from crews outside the designated crew access points are subject to disqualification.

Drop Bags:

  • Specific locations and mileage markers to be posted.
  • Please label dropbags with name of aid station, your name and bib number to avoid confusion. Bags can be dropped off during race check-in between 6 - 6:45 am race morning at registration. Bags will be returned to the finish area as soon as possible after the closure of each aid station.  Please pick up drop bags after the race as they will not be mailed back to you.

Where do I place my race bib number?  On the front

Do I need a USATF license?  No, you do not need a license for this event.

Can someone pickup my packet?  Yes, as long as all waivers have been signed.

Where do I park?  There is parking available in the marina area, please don't park in the spaces for boat trailers.

I am unable to participate due to injury / work / illness can I get a refund? Please refer to our refund policy.

What is the weather policy?   We will race rain or shine.  We carefully monitor the weather, All Sports Productions in coordination with both local emergency personnel and race officials will make decisions based on safety first.

What is available at the aid stations?  There is water, electrolytes, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, PB&J sandwiches, cookies at each aid station.  The finish line aid station will also include additional food items and of course beer!  Please note you will need to provide your own cup!

Are the aid stations cupless?  Yes, you may purchase a cup from our store.  Limited quantities will be available at registration.

Can I purchase a meal ticket for my friends and/or family?  YES!  We would love to feed your friends and family!  Your race entry includes a post event meal, then you may choose to purchase extra meal tickets as part of the registration process.  A single ticket is $10, families of 4 or more is $30.

Can I run with a dog?  YES, but only the 11K and 27K routes! These are basic dog policies:

  • Leash Requirement – All dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times.
  • Owner Responsibility – Owners must maintain control of their dogs and ensure they do not interfere with other participants.
  • Clean-Up Rule – Owners are required to clean up after their dogs. Waste disposal stations will be available.
  • Dog-Friendly Zones – Certain areas may be designated as dog-friendly; please respect restricted zones.
  • Well-Behaved Pets Only – Aggressive dogs or excessive barking may result in removal from the event.
  • Hydration & Safety – Water stations for dogs will be provided; please ensure your pet is hydrated. - do set this up?
  • Liability Waiver – Owners assume all responsibility for their pets and must sign a waiver before participating.

Saturday
6:00 - 7:45 am at the Iron Mountain Marina, 134 Iron Mountain Marina Dr, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.   Packet Pickup & Raceday Registration will be held at the Conference Center just before the marina. All registration must be completed online and will be open until race start on Saturday. Just remember to allow enough time to make it to the start line!

Refund Policy

We do not process refunds, however..

  • Participants who are unable to race will be allowed to rollover their entry to the following year or apply it to another All Sports Production's owned event in the current year.
  • Participants must contact the Race Director before the race to be eligible for a rollover.
  • Only the entry can be rolled over. Race merchandise can be picked up if applicable.
  • If the event is cancelled, rollovers do not apply and ALL participants will be transferred to the reschedule date of the event.
  • All Sports Productions in coordination with both local emergency personnel and race officials will make decisions based on safety first. Courses and/or race segments may be altered as agreed to between All Sports Productions and race officials.
  • If the event must be cancelled, then a participants' registration will be transferred to the rescheduled event only.  The rescheduled date may not be until the following year's regularly scheduled date.  The transfer is only good for the rescheduled event regardless if the athlete is able to attend.

Safety Protocols

We have safety measures in place to maintain a safe environment, while still allowing a great experience. The overall goal is to limit exposure for all attendees by efficiently keeping people moving and eliminating touch points. Here are some safety protocols we will be implementing:

General Safety

  • Facial coverings (not buffs or neck gaiters) will be recommended when social distancing cannot be maintained; including at the start and after finishing.  It is the athlete's choice regarding use of a facial covering while running. .
  • Approved disinfectant will be located at high traffic points. Regular disinfecting of common touch points will occur.
  • If you have any Covid symptoms you will not be allowed to participate in the live event, but can transfer to a challenge event.

Registration

  • Registration should be completed prior to arrival.  Registration will be open until race start.
    • If needed, any onsite registration will be done via your personal cell phone.
  • Please observe social distancing policies.

Aid Stations

  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own hydration.  There will be aid stations on course.
  • Food and refreshments will be single serve.
  • Please follow social distancing.

Start / Finish

  • To allow for proper social distancing, starts will be in groups. allowing participants to spread out.  Please stay clear of the start area until your group is called.  
  • After finishing, please pick up your medal and single serve snacks and refreshments from the designated area.  
  • An email will be sent with instructions on viewing your results online.

Finisher Medals and Awards:

  • Finisher medals for all distances
  • *Overall Awards to the top three Males, Females and Non-binary in each distance. Non-binary will be top 3 overall only (no age group awards).
  • *Masters (50+) - first place male and female finishers in each distance.
  • Age-Group Awards:
    • 27K and 41K - first place only male and female in U19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
    • 11K - top 3 male and female in U19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

* Note - Overall are pulled out first, then Masters.  Both Overall and Masters are pulled out of age-group awards.

Travel

Caddo Valley is located on Interstate 30, a connector between coast-to-coast Interstates 40 and 20. Other highways in the region include State Highways 128, 26, 51, 7 and 8, as well as U.S. Highway 67. Due to Clark County’s centralized location in the United States, fully one-third of the country is just one tank of gas away.  

Less than an hour drive from Little Rock, Caddo Valley and DeGray Lake are easily accessible to major infrastructure and facilities to the Arkansas State Capitol. The Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport provides connections to anywhere in the world. The community is a four-hour drive from Dallas and a three-hour drive from Memphis. 

Virtual Events

Not quite ready for a group event? Choose your distance and challenge yourself to complete it!  You can either come to DeGray Lake and run the actual course on your own or stay home and run your favorite local trail. Once you’ve completed your distance send a screenshot of your route and time to regina@allsportsproductionsinc.com and she’ll get your goodie bag, anything you purchased from the store and your medal in the mail.

  • Do I have to submit a time?  The wonderful thing about virtual races is that the event is just for you.  If you don't want to post a time, you don't have to.  We would still love to see your "finish line" photos or any others.  
  • When will my SWAG be mailed? We will mail SWAG riight after the event.  However, we still sometimes experience manufacturing or shipping delays due to the current closures.  If that happens as soon as we receive the various products we will begin shipping them to you. Thanks for your patience! 
  • When do the virtual events end?  Registration closes race day  However, you can complete the challenge whenever is convenient for you before end of the year.
