THE COURSE
The start of both the Island 25 and the Island 15 will be at the Savannah Fire Dept. (corner of Rt 89 and Savannah Spring Lake Rd). The first few miles will be on paved roads and then the course moves into Howland Island for a challenging journey on gravel and well maintained dirt roads. You will ride in-between multiple ponds mostly on double track trails that roll and bend throughout Howland Island. You'll encounter a few decent hill climbs that remind you that you have quads and hammies. There is one hill that has yet to be named (we will survey all riders post event for suggestions) that is short and not so sweet. Those participating in the Island 25 will have the privilege of climbing that "spike" twice.
Suitable bike, depending on course conditions/weather (wet or dry)
Hardtail mountain bike if spongy
Gravel/cyclocross bike if on the dryer side.
For required safety reasons, all registrants are required to wear a helmet to participate in the races. If you do not have a helmet starting the races, you will not be allowed to participate, and you will not get a refund. Helmets are mandatory.
