Millerton Madness Triathlon

USAT Sanctioned Super Sprint Triathlon.  

Perfect for beginners, or a tune-up before your next big race.

400 yd swim | 5.4 mile bike | 2.2 mile run

Swim: Starting in the water at Millerton, athletes will utilize Millerton Lake Boat Launch. Athletes will swim 400 yards around buoys, back to the boat ramp, exit the water and proceed to the Transition Area.

Bike: Starting at the Transition Area, athletes will make their way north towards the Millerton park entrance, to the turnaround at the top Millerton Lake SRA sign. The bike is out and back with rolling hills. Returning to the transition area.

Run: Run is all asphalt road. Starting at the Transition Area, athletes head north from the parking lot along the street for approximately 1.1 miles towards the Millerton park entrance to the turn around, (at the crosswalk), and back to the finish line.

Sierra Cascades gives back to local charities, groups, and clubs who provide volunteers.

Volunteers who register online for an open position before the event recieve a volunteer card when they check out with the volunteer coordinator at the race.   These cards are transferable and can be used for 50% off of one over our Multisport Events, 100% off of one of our 5k/10k runs, or exchanged for a $50 donation to a non-profit organization or a triathlon/running club.

Race Insurance Recommended

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PURCHASE THE EVENT INSURANCE THAT IS OFFERED WITH EACH EVENT REGISTRATION. THIS INSURANCE WILL PROTECT YOUR REGISTRATION AND PROVIDE A FULL REFUND UNDER THE TERMS OF THE POLICY, INCLUDING WORK SCHEDULE CHANGES AND FAMILY OR MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

The RegShield insurance premium is 8.1% of the registration cost (including processing fees) with a minimum insurance premium of $2.99 for registrations up to $24.99 and a minimum of $3.99 for registrations from $25.00 to $49.23. Premiums for registrations above $49.23 are 8.1%. Premiums in some states that apply surcharges may be slightly different.

IF YOU CANNOT RACE IN THE EVENT FOR WHICH YOU ARE REGISTERED, AND YOU DID NOT PURCHASE THE INSURANCE, YOU CAN DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ONLINE AT LEAST 4 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT, ON THE YEAR OF YOUR REGISTRATION.  NOTE: DEFERALS CAN NOT BE EXTENDED MORE THAN ONE YEAR FROM THE ORIGINAL REGISTRATION.

NO DEFERALS ARE PERMITTED AFTER THE EVENT.

Why do we charge for deferals?

Most requests for deferals come after we have already ordered and paid for supplies, (medals, bibs, chips, food, etc.), for the race.  The deferal fee helps offset some of these costs.  Transfers to another distance or person on the other hand are for the same event and do not incur extra costs.

This relay is to help encourage new triathletes to get a sense of a Triathlon with out running the entire 3 stages. Gather your team and sign up today!! Teams will consist of 2 or 3 athletes.

Runners go the extra distance for a 5k run and get the same great swag, post race meal, and share the madness. 

The run starts at 7:15am... before the summer heat sets in.

Weather Update: 

We will be checking the temperature  Thursday morning before the race and posted here.

** Water temperature is 83 degrees.  **

The water is warm. Wetsuits are not required.  

If the water temp is over 78.1 on race morning, wetsuits are "allowed" but will disqualify the participant from awards or USAT Ranking points.

Forcast Air Temperature on race day will be 75° at 7:30am and 83° by 9:30am

Unlike our April race at Millerton Lake, this time of year, the water has had a chance to warm up.

We will measure the water temperature the morning before and morning of the race, in order to make decisions according to USAT Guidelines.
