Bike

2025 Event

Get ready for a fun 12-mile ride through the Goodyear area! Our route is a 4-mile loop that you will complete three times. It's a great, flat route, perfect for any beginner and super fast for seasoned cyclists! Don't forget your helmet; it's a requirement to rock this ride! For your safety, headphones are not allowed during the bike portion.

Course Information

MomsTRI

Swim - You will swim lanes to complete the 400 meter distance.

Bike Route- You will love the flat bike course, consisting of three 4-mile loops.

Run - Run (or walk) through Goodyear Park and the surrounding neighborhoods.

If you’ve participated in MomsTRI before, you know our finisher’s party is the perfect place to celebrate your accomplishment! If you’re new to MomsTRI, we can’t wait to meet you and share the fun with you!

This truly is an event for every woman!

Run

2025 Event

The run is a 3-mile trail through Goodyear Park, neighborhood and part of Estrella Mountain Community College.  Just like the cycling event, the run is flat and perfect for beginners who may need to walk. Prepare yourself for an emotional finish, when you see your family cheering you on and pushing you through that finish line! Your children are welcome to cross the finish line with you.

Swim

2025 Event

Your triathlon will begin at the pool with a 400 meter swim. The pool at the SouthwestValley YMCA is 50 meters long. There are eight lanes and the swim will be serpentine style. You swim up one lane, cross under the lane line and swim down the next lane until you reach the opposite side of the pool.  In keeping with the noncompetitive nature of MomsTRI, kickboards are available if you're worried about the swim. Really, this event is for everyone and every ability level.  You can swim any stroke and even walk through the pool if you need to! We don't care how you swim, just that you're joining us for a great experience! When you check-in at the packet pick up or the morning of the race, we'll ask you to choose a swim group based on your estimated swim time. Faster swimmers will be the first group to begin and each swimmer will be staggered to allow space between participants.

Again, don't stress about this- it's just to help us organize you into groups and get the event going. We'll give you a wristband corresponding to your ranking, making it easy to find your group when you line up at the pool.

Expert -under 7 minutes

Advanced 7:00-9:00 minutes

Intermediate 9:00-11:00 minutes

Beginner 11:00-17:00 minutes

Novice 17:00 +minutes

Training

Completing a sprint triathlon is totally an attainable goal for almost everyone, even for someone who might not be in shape or consider themselves very “athletic”.  It just takes commitment and a lot of baby steps.  We have created a simple 12-week training program that will have you 100% prepared to complete MomsTRI and have an amazing experience while doing it!  If you currently are not active, please consult your doctor before starting any training program.  It is important to have a solid fitness base before starting this program.  Make sure that you can walk and bike 20-30 minutes continuously before starting this training program.

This training program can work for everyone but is especially designed for beginners.  You can do any stroke for the swim at MomsTRI.  We will even have kick boards available that you can use at any point in the swim.  However, freestyle is definitely the most efficient stroke.  If swimming is not your strong point, you might want to ask a friend or hire a swim coach to give you some pointers.  It is NEVER too late to learn a new skill!  You can do this!  The swim workouts are interval based.  Swim the given distance and then rest the stated time before beginning the next interval.  For example, the Saturday swim workout in week 2 is “Swim 4x50m, rest 20 seconds then swim 8-10x25m, rest 15 seconds.”  To complete this workout after warming up 5-10 minutes, first swim 50 meters and rest for 20 seconds before swimming the next 50-meter interval.  Repeat this until you have completed four 50 meter intervals.  Next begin with the first 25-meter interval, rest 15 seconds before beginning your second 25-meter interval.  Repeat until you have completed 8-10 25-meter intervals.  If you need more rest time between intervals, take it!  Listen to your body and do YOUR best.

The bike and run training are based on time, not distance.  Feel free to go as slow as you need.  If you can’t run the whole time, alternate between jogging and walking.   Depending on your speed, by the end of the program you may very well be over shooting the distances of the triathlon but that will only help your endurance.  To give you an idea of how long each leg of the triathlon may take, here are some general times for each leg (fastest – slowest).

400 Meter Swim: 5-20 minutes
12 Mile Bike: 30-60 minutes
3 Mile Run: 20-50 minutes

Starting at week 5, you will begin biking and running back to back (a.k.a. bricks).  Brick workouts are an essential part of any triathlon training program.  You will quickly realize that as you transition from biking to running your legs will feel like “bricks” for the first 5-10 minutes of the run.  By practicing back to back biking and running your body will learn how to push through the beginning of the run and you will mentally be ready for that heavy feeling.

The key to any training program is consistency.   However, if you get sick or life gets in the way for a few days, don’t stress out over it.  Just pick back up as soon as you can.  Remember, the whole point is to have fun and become a stronger, healthier you!

Transition

6:45 am - Transition Area Closes:

Transitions set-ups must be completed.
Please setup up 7 bikes per bike rack.
No one is allowed to enter or exit the transition area.
No spectators are allowed in the transition area at any time before, during or after the race.

Virtual Triathlon

The virtual triathlon is an event you can do anytime, anywhere!

You can swim, bike and run in any order or any way that is feasible for you. You could even split it up on different days if you need to. If you don't have access to a pool, substitute the swim with another 5k run, 12-mile bike ride, or another challenging activity.

That's the flexibility and fun of a virtual race!

We will mail your MomsTRI shirt and necklace to you after our in-person race.
