NBPT Lions Yankee Homecoming Road Race

The tradition continues in 2026 on Tuesday, July 28th as we celebrate the 66th running of the NBPT Lions Yankee Homecoming Race.

Imagine a beautiful Summer evening in the seaport town of Newburyport, MA.  Thousands of runners will enjoy our breathtaking 5K and 10 Miles courses along the ocean, through the bustling downtown and charming New England neighborhoods.  The NBPT Lions Yankee Homecoming 5K and 10M courses are truly picturesque as they have been for decades.

• Everyone registered before July 1st will receive a personalized bib number printed with your name. 

• Everyone registered before July 1st will receive a commemorative short-sleeve tech race shirt. After that date, shirts cannot be guaranteed - register early!

Certificates awarded to top 3 Teams

All you need is a minimum of five runners to form a scoring team.

Each team must have at least one female runner.

PAULA O’NEIL PORT PACE AWARD

The first female Newburyport resident to finish will receive the Paula O’Neil Port Pace Award, a $100 Newburyport Chamber of Commerce Gift Card.

 
JON PEARSON AWARD

The first male Newburyport resident to finish will receive the Race Director, Jon Pearson Award, a $100 Newburyport Chamber of Commerce Gift Card.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do all 5k & 10m finishers receive medals?
Yes! Everyone that completes the Road race course within the time limit will receive a Lions Road Race finisher medal.

Are Finisher Certificates available?
Yes! On the website. 

Are referral discounts available if I want to get my friends or running club to run with me?
Yes! Share the referral link found on your registration confirmation and get a $25.00 refund when you refer 5 more participants!

Are race bibs personalized with my name?
Yes! Race bibs are personalized with your first name when you register early. You must register by the published name deadline date. (July 2nd 2024)

When do I I pick-up my Bib race number ?
On race day Bib pick up is noon until 6pm when the race starts. 

Will there be race day registration?
Yes, Remember early registrations receive discounts, Race T-shirts & Personalized Bib register early to get theses bonuses.

Can I run with headphones?
Headphones are not banned but discouraged to ensure runner safety.

What are the age group category divisions used for awards?
Award medals are given to the top three M/F in each age group. Overall, 14 & Under, , 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 70-9, 80-84. 85 & over. 
Awards are mailed (There will not be an awards ceremony).

I didn’t pick up the merchandise I purchased while at the race, can you mail it to me?
Merchandise must be picked up on race day and will not be mailed, returned, or refunded.

Are the roads open to traffic?
Most of the roads are closed to traffic. Area police departments will monitor and control traffic along the route. Additional police details and volunteers will be positioned at key turns and intersections. Runners must obey all laws regarding pedestrian use of an open, public road and yield right-of-way when required and appropriate.

My GPS watch was off. Is the distance accurate?
Yes, both The 5k & 10m are Certified.

Can I be guaranteed my shirt size?
If you registered before the receive a commemorative shirt deadline (July 9) you will receive the shirt size you ordered when picking up your race bib.  Please no substitutions.  After the deadline date, shirts cannot be guaranteed - register early!  Shirts will not be mailed.

Is registration protection available in case I get injured or can't run?
Get reimbursed If you can’t attend this race for a number of reasons, including covered injury, illness, traffic accidents, and more. Registration Protection is HIGHLY recommended. Registration protection insurance can be purchased at the time of registration.

What if there is a storm or inclement weather on race day?
There is NO rain date for this race. The race director reserves the right to modify, shorten, or cancel the race in the case of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that make the race unsafe. Race management will work with town and city officials to determine if a cancellation is required. The event organizer has the right to shorten or even cancel the event if, in his or her judgment, environmental conditions including weather become dangerous; in this situation no refunds will be given.  Check NBPT Lions Yankee Homecoming Road Race facebook for the most current updates

5K = 6:00 PM

10M = 6:10 PM

Course limit is 2 ½ hours for the 10 mile race. To finish within this time limit athletes should maintain a pace of at least 15 minutes per mile.

Time: 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM

Online registration will close on Monday, July 27th at 7:00 PM

16 and Under $25

Refer your friends, family, or co-workers. Share the personal referral link contained in your confirmation email. When five people register via your referral link they will be credited back to you and a portion of your registration fee will automatically be refunded.
