Pets Helped
FOSRAS gives the shelter approximately $80,000 to $100,000 for medical expenses annually.
GROOT
Groot (aka Ferris) came to the shelter as a small puppy with a luxating patella. He had surgery on his left leg and is now recovering and feels so much better. He might need surgery on his other leg but he can run, jump and play like every other dog!
He is such a great boy who is full of love and affection! He is still available for adoption.
DEFINITION: A luxating patella occurs when the dog patella (kneecap), which normally sits on the groove of the femur (thighbone), shifts out of alignment. It can occur in one, or both, of the hind legs

RUBY
Ruby came to us as a very sick little kitty. She had FIP. One of our loving vet techs took her in for a 3 month treatment regimen. She had to be closely monitored and given medicine several times a day. In addition, she required several rounds of bloodwork throughout her treatment to ensure it was working. We are happy to say she is now cured and adopted into a wonderful home! Ruby’s FIP treatment and observation was made possible by the Cupid Fund.
DEFINITION: Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a viral disease of cats caused by certain strains of a virus called the feline coronavirus. Most strains of feline coronavirus are found in the gastrointestinal tract and do not cause significant disease. These are referred to as feline enteric coronavirus (FeCV)
