Rami's Heart Memorial A Walk To Remember

In early 2021, Stacie Roman experienced a profound loss when her beloved father, John Stephen Westcott, passed away from COVID pneumonia on February 12th. Grief-stricken yet determined, Stacie sought a way to honor her father's legacy.

By June of the same year, Stacie collaborated with Rami's Heart Corp to organize our inaugural event—a walk that combined both physical and virtual participation. This gathering was more than just a walk; it was a testament to love, resilience, and remembrance. Together, we supported Rami's Heart COVID-19 Memorial, a place where the memories of lost loved ones find solace. Thanks to Stacie's efforts, we raised some of the funds needed to establish the nation's first permanent national COVID-19 memorial.

As another year passes, Stacie and the Rami's Heart team are preparing for our 6th Annual Walk to Remember. The main event will take place at the Belmar Beach Boardwalk in New Jersey, the original site of the memorial before it relocated to Allaire Community Farm in Wall Township, NJ. 

However, this 5k walk/run can be done anywhere in the USA. No matter where you walk or run, your steps matter. Each stride contributes to our cause, supporting Rami's Heart COVID-19 Memorial and Rami's Heart Corp in continuing our vital work. Funds raised go towards maintaining the memorial, covering essential expenses, and hosting ceremonies and events to honor our loved ones.

As participants, you have three options: 

1. Walk anywhere in the USA.
2. Join Stacie and the Rami's Heart team, along with fellow grievers, at the Belmar Boardwalk, New Jersey.
3. Join fellow grievers in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Let us walk together, side by side, carrying the memories of our loved ones forward. Together, we walk to remember. Together, we keep their legacies alive, one step at a time.

This is the 3rd Annual Rami's Heart Walk to Remember.  This in person and virtual run is to raise money for the upkeep and maintenance of Rami's Heart Covid Memorial, the beautiful memorial that has brought peace to so many that never got to properly say good bye to their loved ones.

This year you will see four options for registration.  All events will be happening on the same day, Saturday, April 15th, at 10:00AM.  Click on the links below to register for the location nearest you!

Belmar - The original site of the Rami's Heart Covid Memorial and this event. We will be walking from the 3rd Ave Belmar Beach to Spring Lake and back!

Pittsburgh, PA - We will be meeting at Riverview Park to remember and walk.

Fall River, MA - Will will be meeting at Bicentennial Park to remember and walk.

VIRTUAL - We are also offering a VIRTUAL option where you can complete a 5K anywhere during the week of April 10th-16th.

BELMAR EVENT

My name is Stacie Roman and I lost my dad John Stephen Westcott on February 12, 2021 to COVID pneumonia.  I have been wanting to do something to honor him.  June 2021 we held our first in person and virtual walk to support Rami's Heart COVID Memorial.  I found the COVID-19 Memorial Belmar NJ Facebook support group shortly after my dad's passing.   Rima Samman started a beautiful heart memorial in honor of her brother Rami who she lost to COVID almost 2 years ago.   She wrote his name on a rock to honor him along with a little over 100 other names of other locals who also lost their loved ones to COVID.   When she posted this she received messages from people all over the world asking to be added to the memorial.   Now 1 heart with a little over 100 names turned into 12 hearts with over 2000 names of loved ones lost to COVID from all over the world.  The Memorial was moved from 3rd Ave in Belmar, NJ right  to Allaire Community Farm in Wall, NJ.  Saturday April 15th 2023 we are hosting the in person walk starting at 10am am rain or shine on 3rd Ave in Belmar where it all began.  

Pittsburgh, PA Event

We will meet at Riverview Park 59 Riverview Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15214 at 10am.  Toni's Covid Memorial is joining Rami's Heart Covid Memorial this year for our annual walk. We hope you can join us.  This is important to me as i lost my mom to covid May 9, 2021. Thanks for walking with us.

Fall River, MA Event

I am Shannon Fernandes and the organizer for the Covid Walk to Remember in Fall River.  This year I am walking in honor of my two loving Uncles Jack and Ronnie Fernandes.  Last year we walked in honor of the late Jack Fernandes who had succumbed to Covid 12/31/20.  Jack was not only my loving uncle, he also was the loving uncle to many. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Papa, and Friend to many. This year, we are also walking in honor of the late Ronnie Fernandes, who succumbed to Covid 11/15/22. Ronnie was not only my loving Uncle, he also was the loving uncle to many. He was a loving Husband, Father, Big Brother, Pa, and Friend to many. We are not only walking to honor my two Uncles, we are walking to keep their memory and legacy alive.  "They will never walk alone!"

Our walk will take place at Bicentennial Park on 800 Davol Street, Fall River, MA. We will be set up at the picnic tables near the Veterans Memorial Wall! We will have yellow balloons on our tables.  Thank you for walking with us!
