About RUN(317) - Fountain Square

The RUN(317) Series celebrates the unique people, neighborhoods, businesses and charities of the (317)!  RUN(317) Fountain Square is the first race in the 5 race Series. Participants can register for as many races in the series as their schedules allow them. Each Thursday Night run is followed by a high energy post-race party sponsors by Arthur Murray Dance Center featuring DJ Iman, local craft beer, food, games and community partners. 

On Thursday, June 11th, we are excited to have runners/walkers from all over the Indianapolis area spend their evening in Fountain Square. The race starts at 7 p.m. 

Participants can choose to run/walk or virtually do a 3.17 mile course through the streets of the Fountain Square. Starting and ending Keep Indianapolis Beautiful this flat, fast courses feature views of this unique historic neighborhood and energy of Fountain Square.

RUN(317) will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the Fountain Square event to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.

For those joining us virtually, we will be using the Free RaceJoy App to instantly upload your RUN(317) miles!  Run, utilizing the RaceJoy App, June 11th, 2026 or utilize your favorite monitoring device and manually upload your results.  Only times uploaded through RaceJoy will qualify for the Beat the Clock competition.

COVID-19 Safety Plan

Please find below our COVID-19 Mitigation Plan:

  • We will be doing a wave start to limit the number of people on the course at one time.  Waves will be limited to 100 participants per wave. 
  • Limited capacity of the event to 75%.
  • Masks are encouraged for unvaccinated & vaccinated participants while indoors.
  • Masks are required for unvaccinated participants. If you are fully vaccinated, you are not required to wear a mask.
  • We will have hand sanitizer at multiple locations: Start/Finish line, info desk, and the hand washing station near the port-o-lets.
  • We will be providing bottle water for the water station on the course instead of cups of water.
  • Finish line food will be pre-package and provided to you by a volunteer.
  • We ask participants to stay home if they are sick or are part of a vulnerable population (individuals age 65 and older, individuals who are immunocompromised, and individuals of all ages with serious underlying medical conditions), engage in social distancing, and increase hand washing.
  • We will be encouraging people to social distance.

Q. Can I Pick-Up A Packet for A Friend?
A.  Yes! You can pick-up a packet for a friend - just be sure to let your friend know that you are doing it prior to packet pick-up!

Q. I have a friend who cannot participate in the event. Can I take his/her place?
A. Each participant must have his/her own registration. In the event of an emergency, race officials must have emergency contact information on hand, therefore, you are NOT allowed to participate using someone else’s registration. There are NO exceptions to this policy.

Q. Where are the water stations? 
A. One water station will be located approximately halfway through the course as well as the Start/Finish Line.

Q. Will there be food or restaurants?
A.  Our sponsor Lou Malnati's will be on site selling pizza by the slice. We also encourage participants to support many of the local restaurants near by. 

Q. What are the award divisions?
A. Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female prizes will be awarded for those who participate in the live event. There are no age group awards.

Q. Is there an age limit?
A. No! Bring the whole family!

Q. Are strollers and/or dogs permitted?
A. Dogs are not allowed on the course for safety reasons. Strollers are permitted but must start in the last corral for safety reasons.

Q. May walkers participate?
A. Yes! There is a 20 minute/mile minimum pace on the course.

Q. Can I redeem my beer/wine/seltzer/ tickets for something other than alcohol?
A.  Yes! The beer/wine/seltzer tickets can be redeemed on race site for a non-alcoholic beverage at the Athletic Annex tent.

Q. Can I get a refund or transfer?
A. There are no refunds or transfers for RUN(317). There are no transfers between individual races as well.

Race packets & purchased merchandise are available for pick-up during packet pick up (unless you paid to have it sent to you).  Packet Pick-ups are as follows:
Day before the Race:  Athletic Annex, Nora Location, 2 pm - 6 pm
Race Day: Race Site, 5:30 - 6:45 pm

Download the RaceJoy App to complete your race either on the course or anywhere you choose to run!  All virtual participants participating in Beat the Clock must use the RaceJoy app to qualify.
