Course, Parking & Travel

Course Info

The course begins in Old Sacramento on Front Street. The course travels south on 2nd Street, under Capitol Mall, and returns north on the bike trail. The course is 100% paved and mostly flat. Map coming soon!

Due to participant size and starting point course logistics, 5K participants will be self-sorted into 4 corrals based on approximate speed. Each corral will be staggered by about a minute apart. This will not affect your race timing.

There will be a water station at the 5K turnaround point in Discovery Park. Water will be available at the finish line, too.

The course is chip-timed and well-marked. Our race management company, Capital Road Race Management (CRRM), has over two decades of experience running races. Results kiosks will be available at the results tent.

Parking & Transit

Paid parking is available at three locations that are within walking distance to the starting point: Tower Bridge Garage to the south (1289 Front St), Old Sac Garage to the north (125 I St), and West Premium Garage to the east (325 L St). Each parking garage is about a 5-min to 10-min walk to the meeting area. You may want to download the Park Mobile app to your phone so that you can more easily find and manage parking in Old Sac.

We have three large dedicated bike racks stationed at the venue, in addition to dispersed bike parking throughout Old Sacramento.

SacRT’s yellow line terminates at Sacramento Valley station, which is a 12-minute walk to the race start meeting area.

What is the route of the run/walk?

Starting in Old Sacramento on Front Street the course travels south on 2nd Street, under Capitol Mall, and returns north on the bike trail. The course is 100% paved and mostly flat.

2026 details will be updated soon! 2025 packet pickup page.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive by 8:00 AM to grab a snack, warm up, and find your spot. Orange Theory Midtown's body pump crew will be on-site to graciously lead us through a warm up to boost our positive energy! Start times will stagger 1-min apart beginning 8:40 am.

How do I get there and where do I park?

Check out the course & parking page for a map of parking locations and travel options. Be aware that a travel advisory is in effect for full lane closures on East-bound traffic from the west side of the river (see CalTrans update).

What should I wear?

Pride is by nature a festive, bright and fun event. We encourage you to wear a comfortable pair of shoes and to bring your most fabulous costume to match! Participants who dress in costume will be entered into a raffle prize. See more details on the costume raffle page.

What is happening after the run/walk?

After the run we will hold the award ceremony for age and gender brackets. Afterward is the Sacramento Pride Fest.

Will there be drinks and snacks?

We will have water stations at the beginning and half-way point for the runners. Simple snacks will be available before the race.

Will restrooms be available?

Yes, portable restrooms are available at the starting point.

Is there a foot locker available?

We will not have storage available for your keys, phone, wallet, or extra clothes, etc. Please plan accordingly.

Can dogs participate?

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed to participate. Most race insurance policies forbid dogs in their terms of service. Additionally, the logistics of the course make leashed dogs a challenge due to the minimum trail width. Dogs are welcome at the start/finish line.

Can I bring my child's stroller on the walk?

With a new course, it's likely that strollers will be allowed this year, however please check back closer to race day. We'll have an updated policy.

Is the event beginner-friendly?

Absolutely! 5K races are a perfect entry point for beginning runners and the course is runner and walker friendly! Hydration stations are available at the start/end of the event as well as at the halfway point.

Is this a family-friendly event?

Yes, all ages are welcomed. Some music may contain explicit lyrics.

Where can my friends, family or the public spectate?

Spectator information coming soon.

Costume Raffle

At this year’s Pride 5K, we’re bringing the fabulous to the finish line—and we want YOU in your most creative, colorful, and outrageous costume! Think: mermaids (erm, merpersons), unicorns, matching group fits, inflatable dinosaurs, glitter beards, drag royalty, and everything in between! Whether you’re dressing as a walking disco ball or a rainbow warrior, this is your time to shine.

Costumed participants will be entered into a raffle to reward their creativity with a prize. So run, strut, sashay, or dance your way through the 5K in style—because at Sac Pride 5K, it’s not just about crossing the finish line... it’s about how you get there

Raffle prizes are TBD but we had some fantastic gift cards to give out last year. So shine those sequins and don't forget to blend the contour early Saturday morning!

Note this is a ticketless raffle: You will be asked at packet pickup if you are participating in costume. If yes, we will note your bib number and announce during the awards ceremony on race day.
