Get Moving For Mental Health

Your participation will support the evidence-based treatment programs at Skyland Trail and help remove financial barriers for families in need.  Young people are particularly experiencing depression and anxiety and seeking mental health services at alarming rates. The U.S. surgeon general has warned that young people are facing “devastating” mental health effects as a result of the challenges experienced by their generation, including the pandemic. Raising funds through the Skyland Trail 5k will make a difference in the lives of teens and their families.

This family-friendly event is open to all. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The Skyland Trail 5K Run/Walk will be a chipped-timed event and an official qualifier for the 2027 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

Registration and Check-In

Check-in on the morning of the event will open at 7:30 a.m. You may also register online through 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026. On-site walk-up registration is available for $50. Virtual participation options are available.

Weather

In the event of extreme or hazardous weather, Skyland Trail may delay or cancel the event entirely. If there are weather-related changes, Skyland Trail will email all registered participants and volunteers on Saturday morning before the event. Please note that the race entry fee is non-refundable.

Safety, Rules, and Policies

Although water will be available, participants are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle or camelback device. Parents with strollers, wagons, etc. will start at the back of the group to prevent creating hazards for other participants. No animals or pets, except for service animals, will be permitted. Weapons of any kind, including firearms, are not permitted on Skyland Trail campuses. Skyland Trail is a nicotine-free campus. Smoking and vaping are not permitted indoors or outdoors.

Who is eligible to participate? Participants of all ages may register. Participants ages 17 and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Where do I park? Event parking is located at the Chamblee Boys and Girls Club (2880 Dresden Drive, Chamblee, GA 30341), which is adjacent to the Skyland Trail J. Rex Fuqua Campus.

Water & Hydration: Although water stations will be available, participants are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle or camelback device.

Children and Strollers: Parents with strollers will start near the back of the group to prevent creating hazards for other participants.

Pets: No pets are allowed. Only service animals are permitted.

Bags: Backpacks, suitcases, and other bags will not be permitted. There will be no bag drop station and participants cannot leave bags unattended anywhere on Skyland Trail property or along the race route.

Additional Rules:

• Weapons including firearms and knives are not permitted on Skyland Trail property.
• Alcoholic beverages and illegal substances are not allowed on Skyland Trail property.
• Skyland Trail is a 100% smoke- and nicotine-free campus; there are no areas where smoking, vaping, or tobacco use is permitted on any Skyland Trail-owned or leased property, indoors or outdoors. Smoking and vaping are prohibited on the property of nearby businesses and residences and in personal vehicles parked on Skyland Trail property.
• Speakers will not be allowed on the property or throughout the race. Personal headphones are okay as long as the volume is at a level that does not inhibit participant(s) from hearing emergency or public safety alarms and/or sirens.

Is this a chipped or timed event? Yes. The 2025 Skyland Trail 5K Run/Walk is a chipped and timed event. It is also a qualifier for the 2026 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

What is the race route? The race will begin at the J. Rex Fuqua Campus for adolescents, go through the surrounding neighborhoods, and circle back to the start line. You can view the official race route here.

Is my registration fee tax-deductible? Typically the race registration fee is not tax-deductible because you receive tangible/non-tangible goods in exchange for your registration fee. However, you should confer with your tax professional if you have further questions. Skyland Trail is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, and we encourage race participants to make a tax-deductible donation in addition to their race fee. We also hope participants will use this platform to invite friends, family, and coworkers to donate as well. Donations made to Skyland Trail as part of the Skyland Trail 5K Run/Walk by participants and their supporters are tax-deductible.

Can I register in person? Yes, walk-up registration will be available on the day of the event for $50 per person. Skyland Trail is not able to guarantee available t-shirt sizes for walk-up registrations. Registration before the event is highly encouraged.  

Can my registration fee be refunded? Can I transfer my registration fee to someone else? All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

If it rains, will the race be canceled? The Skyland Trail 5K will take place rain or shine. In the event of extreme or hazardous weather, we may cancel, delay or modify the course for the safety of participants. Please note that the race entry fee is non-refundable even if the race is modified or canceled.

If the race is canceled, how do I get my t-shirt: If the 5K is canceled due to weather, you will receive an email within 3 business days with instructions on how to pick up your Skyland Trail 5K t-shirt.
