About Smithfield Sprint Triathlon
Located on the outskirts of picturesque Smithfield in the southeast corner of Virginia, the Smithfield Sprint Triathlon is an early season favorite. Hosted by the Luter Family YMCA this race features a short pool swim, lightning fast bike and flat run course. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a triathlon novice, this is a great event for you. You’ll feel safe, yet challenged on the rural bike course and will have a flat, fast run to finish your race. The race starts at 10AM and features a time trial pool swim and post race BBQ meal. Race more get cool gear! 2026 SWAG
Any athlete who participates in a minimum of five (5) 2026 Kinetic Multisports events will qualify for Kinetic Cup Series scoring and qualifier rewards.
The tiered qualifier system will work as follows:
Stage 1 Qualifier: Q3 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 3 Kinetic Multisports events will receive a Kinetic Series Sports Waist Bag at Packet Pick Up!
Stage 2 Qualifier: Q5 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 5 Kinetic Multisports events will eligible for Kinetic Series awards and will receive a Kinetic Medal Hanger!
Stage 3 Qualifier: Q10 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 10 Kinetic Multisports events will receive a custom Kinetic Multisports Qualifier Jacket! (Your custom jacket will be mailed to you after the season). This jacket is different each year.
Race For the Kinetic Cup Series Awards – Each athlete placing in the top 5 of each age group or category (with 5 races) will receive a special award. Awards differ from year to year!
Swim Start
Time Trial Swim Start: We will start one athlete at a time every 10 seconds. Athletes line up based on swim and overall finish times, faster up front, slower in the back to create a smoother race for everyone.
Rolling Swim Start: There are no assigned swim start times. So, to make the swim as smooth as possible we recommend starting at the following times:

○ 10:00 – 10:06am / 05:00 and under
○ 10:07 – 10:30am / 05:01 – 06:00
○ 10:31 – 11:00am / 06:00 – 07:00
○ 11:01 – 11:30am / 07:00 – 08:00
○ 11:30 – 12:00pm / 08:00 – 09:00
○ 12:00 – 12:30pm / 09:00 and over
