SpartanNash Y Byron Days 5K

Welcome to SpartanNash YMCA Byron Days 5K Run/Walk in Byron Center.     The Byron Days 5K has been a signature event of the Bryon Days Festival since 2005.  The 5K will start at 8am on Byron Center Avenue just north of Sherwood and Byron Center intersection and wind through the tree-lined Railside Community to Kent Trails before returning to the finish line.    Whether you are a runner or an occasional walker, we'd love to see you at the start line!  There is also a Virtual 5K Run/Walk if you can't be there race day but want to support the SpartanNash YMCA.  

Please register early to be guaranteed a t-shirt.   If you register after July 1, we cannot guarantee that there will be a shirt available for you.  

Online registration will remain open until the 8am start of the 5K -  plan to register on your home computer before arriving or your phone on-site.  No onsite computers/tablets will be available to register.

The Byron Days community parade will follow at 10:00 a.m.  Our event is held in conjunction with the annual Byron Days Festival in July.

Adverse Weather Policy

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS
The Byron Day Festival events may be canceled or delayed if any of the following weather conditions exist: Tornado Watch/Warning, Thunderstorm Warning, "Heavy" Rain

START OF THE RACE and/or PARADE
The start of any of the events can be delayed no more than 30 minutes from the posted start time if any of the above mentioned conditions exist.

CANCELLATION OF THE RACE and/or PARADE
The event may be canceled if one of the following weather conditions exist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch or Thunderstorm Warning.

AUTHORITY TO CANCEL THE RACE and/or PARADE
Festival officials (5K Race Director, Festival Director) and local law enforcement has the authority to cancel any of the events. If threatening weather conditions force cancellation of the event, no refunds will be provided to 5K participants or parade participants. 

BROADCAST OF CANCELLATION
Announcements will be made on-site at the event to participants/spectators regarding any delay and/or cancellation.  An email will be sent to all registered participants and social media posts will be completed with details, if conditions permit. 

Awards are presented to top overall (male/female) and masters (male/female over 40).  Top 3 in each of the following age groups will receive Age Group Award medals.  Age Groups:  11 and Under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-59, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Awards will be available when results are finalized (between 8:30 and 8:45 depending on timing of finishers).   If awards aren't received the day of the event an email will be sent to the recipient with details of availability for pickup at SpartanNash YMCA.

Interested in supporting programs at the SpartanNash YMCA    Become a sponsor of the Byron Days 5K!   The Byron Days 5K is part of the annual Byron Days festivities.     All proceeds from the race support the SpartanNash Y's programs that provide scholarships for those in the community that would not otherwise be able to participate.   These programs include Safety Around Water, youth swimming lessons, Livestrong, youth sports programs and more!

The 5K course remains the same, taking advantage of Byron Center’s natural rolling terrain, beautiful housing developments, and the scenic Kent Trails. The 5K (3.1 mile) course will begin on Byron Center Road, just north of 84th Street. It will go north on Byron Center Road, then north/west on Byron Station, north on Railside Drive through the beautiful Railside Housing Community, west on 76th Street, then south for 1 mile on the scenic and shaded Kent Trails Bike Path, then east on 84th Street to Merton, following Merton to the finish line. 

If we have volunteers there will be a staffed aid station on the course at the entrance to Kent Trails (about 1/2 way)  If we don't have volunteers it will be self-serve.  Please self carry your fluids if needed.   The finish line will have Absopure bottled water and fluid replacement and snacks provided by Family Fare. 

Please register early to be guaranteed a shirt.  Inventories have been established and when we run out, we run out.

July 25 2025 - Packet Pickup at Knapp Orthodontics, 2384 76th St SW   5 - 7 pm  *Please Note: Registration will be open thru Saturday for LATE SIGN-UPS. However, you must sign up on your computer or smartphone prior to coming to registration and packet pick up. There will be NO ONSITE COMPUTERS.

July 26, 2025- Packet Pickup will be located near the Start & Finish area  on the north side of Sherwood in the parking lot  behind Huntington Bank beginning at 7am. until the start of the 5K  **Please Note: Online Registration will be open until 8am Saturday for LATE SIGN-UPS. However, you must sign up on your computer or smartphone prior to coming to registration and packet pick up. There will be NO ONSITE COMPUTERS.

Road Closures will be in effect from 7:30am to 12pm in Byron Center for the Byron Days 5K and Parade.  Please review the attached for additional details.     

Before you go out for your SpartanNash YMCA 5K Virtual Race - print a customized bib to wear!  When you have finished your race, you'll be able to submit your results directly into the system.   All that information is available below in the PDF.
