Live Race Results
The live race will be timed by Negative Split Event Timing with chip timing. Each participant bib will contain a timing chip stuck to the back of the bib. The timing chip will record your start and finish times based on when you cross the timing mats. Please make sure your bib number is visible and on the outermost layer of your clothing and facing forward to guarantee the best chip reads while crossing our mats. Similarly, your bib number is used for photo identification for your race photos.
Spring of Hope
Spring of Hope International:
Spring of Hope International (SOHI) is a 501.C3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving living conditions and promoting Christian spiritual growth among the poorest-of the-poor in rural Kenya.
SOHI was founded in 2004 by native Kenyan, David Opap, who, being raised in the area, has an intimate first-hand knowledge of the region, culture, and challenges facing these people. Since its inception, SOHI has partnered with hard-working people in this rural Kenyan community empowering them to improve their living conditions. Our approach covers four areas of basic human needs.
What We Are Doing:
The first half of 2024 has been incredible! After 20 years engaged in transformation work in the region where I grew up, we are starting to see a glimpse of hope and lasting change. People have experienced a mindset change and have hope for their future. God has remained faithful as we continue to train farmers, pastors, facilitate child sponsorship, provide life-saving clean water and lead families to know God and follow Him daily.
We continue to be engaged in God’s mission in this small corner of the world. A lot is going on and thank you very much for being part of what God is doing in my community. All of us can be a change agent if we are willing. Each year the funds raised at the Spokenya Race provide clean drinking water through a specific project!
Water Bucket Challenge
SpoKenya lets runners choose to carry water on their heads – Kenyan style. Finish the last 100 meters of the race with a bucket of water on top of your head. This is how women and girls in Kenya must transport all of the family’s water. Walk in their shoes across the finish line.
