Each hydration station will have Water and Gatorade. Stations after mile 10 will also have Coke, Bananas, and Pretzels. Please note water stops will NOT have Gels/Gu's etc. If you train on Gels or Gu's, you will want to carry your own in a fuel belt or race belt. RunSignUp has the ability to search for your photos by Bib# or Name. Try it, it's easy.
The photos can also be found by going to your individual results page on RSU, and clicking on the small photo icon under your name.
The bib# tagging is done automatically by google software and is not always perfect. It is being worked on by RSU, to make it better.
You can also manually add missing bib#'s yourself, so don't hesitate to help when the software missed it!

PRICING POLICY

The True Price. Our Policy:- We don't feel that the "service charge/convenience charge" is fair to any athlete. At Race Awesome the price you see is the price you pay, nothing more. This is our "True Price Guarantee".

Refund Policy. The Suffolk County Marathon Weekend refund policy has changed. You may now obtain a 75% refund for any Suffolk County Marathon weekend race. However, you will pay a refund processing fee of $5.00. Refunds are only given out until September 10th (45 days before the race weekend). There are no refunds and registration is not transferable after this date. Registration postponements and deferrals will only be given if you can attend the event and volunteer instead of racing.

Please be aware, giving or selling your bib could be cause for disqualification from future events.

FINISH LINE PHOTO TIPS:
For the best-looking Finish Line photos, make sure to
keep your head up, arms up, do not look at your watch, stay in the left or right center under the clock,
and SMILE for the camera!

You will then get a GREAT Finish Line photo!
We normally try to take a zoomed in photo as you approach the FL (about 5-10 yds out), and the last photo right after you cross the FL!

SPECIAL PHOTOS:
Don’t hesitate to ask Ed, or any photographer from LIRP, Long Island Running Photos, our race photographers to take any special photos of you, your friends and family. They are there to help you get those special memorable photos at the race! And all photos are FREE to view and download.

And most of all, Have FUN! and enjoy the beautiful course views!

Note: We try to photograph everyone, but it is not always possible.
Try to avoid getting too close behind another runner, which will possibly block your photo!

SPECTATOR GUIDE

We are SUPER EXCITED for the Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon. This year's course brings some challenges for spectators and we wanted to share some suggestions on how best

THE START LINE!
The race starts at 7:30 am at the Babylon Train Station on the corner of Deer Park Ave & Railroad ave. It's a great place to be as you will see your athlete start and if you hang out a little while you will get to see them again as they pass under the start line arch again at around mile #2.

CATHOLIC HEALTH GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL
Located just before mile #4 at 1000 Montauk Hwy, West Islip. Spectators can cheer their athletes as they run by the hospital and head towards the Robert Moses Causeway. From here spectators can walk to the finish line at Gardiner County Park, which is just under a mile away.

5k & 10k RACE SPECTATORS
If you want to see your athlete cross the finish line we highly recommend that you go straight to Gardiner County Park they run down the finisher chute.

Tracking Miles / Distance

BEST PRACTICES

The Race Starts on October 1st, you can start to post your results from 12:01am. The RACE ENDS October 31st at 11:59pm, YOU MUST HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR LAST ENTRY BEFORE MIDNIGHT, No exceptions. IT'S BEST TO ENTER YOUR DISTANCE ON THE DAY YOU DID IT!  If you are racing in one of the MISSION events it is an AWESOME idea to get in the habit of recording your miles daily. Plus it will give you some positive motivation to see your progress. Sometimes this isn't practical. Don't worry!  if you miss a day, just add it to the next day(s).

TO TALLY OR NOT TO TALLY?

Tallying your miles is something you do on a daily basis. Example if you run 3 miles today and 2 miles tomorrow. Each day you will log into your results and add the miles you did for the day. Tallying miles is only for those who have registered for one of our "MISSION" events. Your goal is to challenge yourself to logging the most amount of miles you can between October 1st - 31st. If you are registered for one of our more traditional running events (26.2 mile Marathon, 13.1mile Half Marathon, 10k or 5k) you will not be tallying up your miles. These events require that you complete the distance you have registered for in one day, just like a normal event. CLICK HERE to learn how to submit your results and photos.

WHICH MILES/KILOMETERS COUNT?

That's an important question;

Sure, you are self reporting, and we are not requiring "proof", but what miles (or kilometers) should count?

This should only be the distances you cover when you actually go out to run (or walk), cycle or swim... and yes, doing the miles indoors on a  treadmill, stationary bike or laps in a pool does count... ellipticals do not count!

You get the IDEA, these are the rules, Honesty is needed on your behalf.  You now know and understand the rules!

TRAINING GUIDE

Suffolk County Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Training Programs

Written and Provided by Mike Petrina, Head Coach of the Sayville-Smithtown Distance Training Program

Background
Programs are written by Mike Petrina, head coach of the Sayville-Smithtown Distance Training Program (DTP). Mike has been running for 18 years as a competitive High School, College, and Open Runner. His coaching resume is full of experience on several different levels: self-coach for 8 years, High School XC and Track Coach for 7 years at St. John the Baptist, individual coaching for 4 years and heading the DTP in the Fall of 2013, Spring & Fall 2014, Spring & Fall 2015 and Spring & Fall 2016. He has completed 6 Marathons (Steamtown, LI Marathon, Boston x2, NYC and MCM), numerous Half Marathons and other races, ranging from the mile up to an ultra. With knowledge and influence from his college coach, readings, seminars, and own experience, Mike has developed a program that will get you to the finish line faster and with less effort.

Overview
These Training Programs were developed around the theory of cumulative fatigue. In the training cycle, you will find yourself running more days a week with more mileage which in turn will tire your body, we like to call it "running on tired legs." The concept of running on tired legs is to help the body better adapt on race day. We want to simulate the second half of your race in training.

There are a few different training tools you will use throughout the program:

Workouts - interval sessions and long runs are keys to help the body adapt to running fatigued. Intervals will run you at faster than goal pace for shorter distance to make the body run more comfortable at goal pace. Long runs will simulate the length of the race and the time you spend on your feet. These two training sessions will work together to help you run faster, easier and with more confidence.

Daily Runs - will log you more miles for the week and keep the body from fully recovering in between workouts. When you are not fully recovered workout to workout it allows you to train the body for the second half of your race.

Cross Training and Off Days - while we do not want to allow the body to fully recover, we do have to let it recover to a point that we will not damage you. By scheduling less stressful cross-training and days off we can let the body heal up and keep you running throughout the duration of the training program.
