• Is the course walker friendly.

  • Yes all 3 courses are walker friendly

• Will there be awards for winners?

  • Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+

• What are the overall awards?

  • The overall female and male of the half-marathon will each receive $100.     

• Can I switch races?

  • Yes, you may change your registration distance as long as there is space available. There will be a fee charged if the price of your new race is more than what you originally paid, and you will not receive a credit for the price difference if the price of the new race is lower.

• Are strollers and dogs allowed?

  • Yes you can run the 5k or 10k with a stroller but not the half marathon.  DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED!

• Will there be race day registration?

  • NO there will not be race day registration.

• What is the minimum age requirement?

  • Although there is no "standard" age at which a runner should get involved in the sport of running, we recommend runners be at least age 12, for the Half Marathon, and 6 years old for the 5K. Ultimately, it is up to each parent or guardian to adjust our recommended age, higher or lower, depending upon their dependent's ability to participate in our event.

• How much of the course is on trail?

  • The half marathon and 10k are 95% on dirt trails. The 5K is stroller friendly with roughly 5% on dirt trail. Did you know running on trails or dirt is easier on the knees and joints?  

• How much elevation gain do the courses have?

  • The half marathon gains a total of around 350 feet of elevation through rolling hills. The 10K is on rolling hills with around 100 feet of total elevation gain. The 5K has less than 100 feet of elevation gain.  See Elevation Chart in menu.

• How will the course be marked?

  • The course will be heavily marked with nearly 500 cones and 69 directional signage on both the trails and roads. There will also be numerous volunteers on the course to cheer you on and ensure that you are on course!

• Can I do a practice run on the course prior to race day?

  • Please do not, as majority of the course is on private property and without race-day signage it would be nearly impossible to navigate the course.

• Will there be aid/water stations along the course?

  • Water and aid station locations are being finalized soon. There will be a minimum of 6 water stations along the half marathon course with 2 of these locations giving out energy gels.

• Where is Tesoro Viejo?

  • The Tesoro Viejo Community is located just 8 minutes north of Fresno along the 41 Highway. This planned community is in Madera County and on the edge of the foothills.

• Will there be a bag drop location?

  • Yes! There will be a place where you can check your bag near the start/finish line.

• Where will parking be located?

  • Parking maps will be included in our event guide. Parking is in dirt parking lots. parking is free.

• When and where is packet pickup?

  • Packet Pickup will be held at Fleet Feet Fresno on Friday the day prior to the event. 

• Is there a time limit for the race?

  • The finish line will be open for 3.5 hours after the start of the half marathon.

Welcome to Tesoro Viejo Spring Classic Events

We are excited to offer you our 7th annual Tesoro Viejo Spring Classic Run events!  We would like to thank and acknowledge our gratitude to the McCaffrey Group for hosting the Tesoro Viejo Spring Classic. And thank our sponsors.

Getting to Tesoro Viejo and Parking!

It is imperative that you arrive at Tesoro Viejo early.  The event is located just 8 miles north of River Park on Hwy 41.  Parking is located in the new parking lot behind the Hub, by taking a right at the light at Tesoro Viejo Blvd on Hwy 41.  

Fluids, Fuel and Restrooms!

Water/Gatorade stations will be located approximately every 2 miles.  GU energy gels will be available at mile 8 on the half-marathon course.  Portable restrooms will be found at each or our water-stations.

Time Limits

In order to comply with city permits, we require that participants be properly prepared and trained to complete the half marathon within 3.5 hours from 8am. 

Festival

Kick back and relax after your run and listen to the sounds of a LIVE Rock and Roll band.  You will be treated to hot cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit and for those 21 and over Michelob Ultra beer.  Your guests can also join you in our Michelob Celebration Garden and enjoy all of its amenities for $15 each, which can be purchased at packet pickup or the festival.

Results

Run Results can be reviewed live during the event and paper postings will be available as well.  For those participants that registered for result texting during registration, you will receive your unofficial time immediately upon crossing the finish-line sent to your phone and/or email address.  

Awards

All run finishers receive a finisher’s medallion, water, food, including hot cinnamon roll at the finish-line and festival area.  Overall half marathon cash awards will be mailed to winners one week after the event.  Any disputes must be emailed to ccw.info@yahoo.com within 48 hours after event. After 48 hours all results will be official and no disputes will be accepted.  All age group awards will be available after event.  

Chip Timing

Participants will be chip timed.  Your timing chip is located on the back of your race bib.  Do not remove, bend or fold.  Runners, please wear your bib number on the front of your outer garment.  

Participants will run from the main community Hub at Tesoro Viejo around the circumference of the Valley's newest community, over bridges, through tree lined lanes, to the kissing gate and around the lip of a majestic gulch which highlights the beautiful wetland preserves in spring.  The course is mostly unpaved trails with rolling hills showcasing some of the most picturesque scenery around, just minutes from North Fresno! You'll have views of not only of beautiful green pastures but of beautiful new homes located in the community. Our half marathon has some mild hills where the 10k is rolling hills.  Our 5k is 95 percent on paved trails and stroller friendly.

Supports Tesoro Viejo Conservancy 

The mission of the Tesoro Viejo Conservancy is to preserve land, protect wildlife, improve access to the San Joaquin River, and educate the public about the region’s natural resources.  

Each year we will feature a Live band for your enjoyment inside our Michelob Ultra Celebration Beer Garden!  Kick back after your journey through Tesoro Viejo and enjoy the music!  We've got a great Rock & Roll band for you for 2026!

CLASSIC Runner of the Year Series!
Who will be named the CLASSIC Runner of the Year for 2026?  The Tesoro Viejo Half Marathon is a 20 point race in the series. Click HERE to find out more.

You will notice the difference in Tesoro Viejo Spring Classic event as each participant will receive a gender specific high performance short-sleeve event shirt.  This Spring Classic event will continue to exceed your expectations at our Start/Finish Pavilion, in the middle of one of the Valley's newest communities, Tesoro Viejo, which covers 400 acres of groomed running paths among sprawling meadows and breath-taking vistas!  After completing your run and receiving your custom finisher's medallion, you will be treated to a hot cinnamon roll and valley grown fruits.

We invite the whole family to come and enjoy as we are offering 10k and 5k routes as well. We also invite our out-of-town visitors to book a hotel at one of our host hotels just minutes from the start line.
