COURSE:
Is Wrath48 USATF Sanctioned? It will be.
Is the course USATF certified? The Day loop is, but as a self-timed event, it's not record-eligible..
What is the Day Loop like? You start off heading downhill, then turn into a nice, long flat straightaway. At the halfway point, you start heading gradually uphill to the start/finish. The course runs through quiet neighborhoods and a city park.
What is the Night Loop like? It's just like the Day Loop, but a bit shorter, a bit flatter, and doesn't go through the park.
Why are there two courses? The park is closed from 11P -5A. Because this race is Fat-Ass Style (ie no permits) we can't run through the park at night.
Is there any shade on the course? Not much.
Will I need lights? We always recommend lights. However, if the night is clear, the moon and the streetlights may illuminate the course enough for some runners.
What are the course records?
   Men: 65.65 miles
   Women: 131.1 miles

Bring extra cots to share, if you have them!

All tents and shelters need to be in the back yard, or on the grass in the front of the house, set back 20' from the street. If you set up any place else, you will be asked to move.

WEATHER:
What's the weather like? ARCHIVE Pre-Race Email 2021

We’re so excited for the 9th year of this crazy race, which will hopefully be the first of MANY years at Coleson’s F.R.O.G. Camp! This email should cover everything you need to know, but if something is missing, it's probably in the FAQs: https://runsignup.com/Race/WRATHEnduranceRuns/Page-4
WHERE/WHEN/WHY
LOCATION:  1824 Staree Lane, Ft Worth, 76179
PACKET PICKUP: Starting at 4 PM on the day of your event
PURPOSE: To raise money for Pediatric Cancer while helping us maintain or improve our fitness over the summer. And to have fun by meeting other crazy people!
THE FOUR BIG RULES
COLESON’S F.R.O.G. CAMP:  The facility's family-friendly rules state “no cursing, no alcohol” and clean up after yourself. They are letting us use the property at no charge, so we ask for your cooperation in leaving the property as clean as when we got there. In addition, the Property Managers live in the Barndominium, so we ask that you be quiet in that area at night.
COVID:  USA Track And Field's COVID protocol requests that runners, volunteers and guests be masked in the Aid Station area, and that runners carry a mask on the course & announce themselves/mask-up before passing another runner. WRATH Racing asks that you wear a mask when you will be within 6 feet of a volunteer or another runner for more than a few minutes or so, unless mutually agreed otherwise. If you don't feel well, please skip the race!
MANDATORY REFLECTIVE GEAR:  Our agreement with the Sherriff’s office requires that every runner needs to wear something reflective. If you don’t have anything, we have reflective duct tape, and we can figure something out.
TIMING:  Every runner will have 2 timing chips:  one on the ankle and one on the bib. Both chips should be worn at all times for best results. The ankle chip MUST be returned at the end of the event. No Ankle Chip, no results.

Runners who hit mileage milestones will get a sticker. We'll have stickers for 50K, 50 miles, 100K, 100 miles, 150K, 150 miles & 200K. Runners who do at least 100 miles will also get a hand-painted brick.
What do I get if I run the most miles?
The male and female with the most miles in each event will get an award. If we have enough runners in the event, we will also give out Masters awards
What are the course records?
24-Hour Female: Agatha McRill 72.5 miles      Male: Matthew Perez 82.5 miles
48-Hour Female: Maribel Flores 120.00 miles     Male: James Nalley & Ed Ettinghausen 131.25 miles

COURSE:

Are WRATH48 / WRATH24 USATF Sanctioned?
Yes, they will be.

Is the course USATF certified?
No. Because of the weather and surface, it's unlikely that anyone would set a record on this course. However, it is professionally measured for accuracy and distance.

What is the course surface like? How long is it?
The course is 1.25 miles long. It's 1/4 gravel, 1/4 grass, and 1/2 asphalt. Something for everyone!
Where can I see a map of the course?
See the Course Map and Description on the Event Info page.
What about elevation?

The out-n-back on Staree Lane is a hill, and the run up to the dam has a little slope to it, but other than that, the course is flat, flat flat!
Is there any shade on the course?
Not much.
Will we change direction?
No.
How is the course marked?
The grass sections, including the dam, will have landscape flags for daytime and glow-lights at night. The out-n-back will be coned off and the turn-around will have glowsticks. (The gravel sections really don't need anything.)

Will I need lights?
We always recommend lights, especially on the grass/trail sections of the course. However, if the night is clear, the moon may illuminate the paved section enough for some runners.
Is reflective gear required?
Yes. Staree Lane is a quiet country road, but it does have some traffic, and there are no sidewalks. Reflective gear of some sort is required per our agreement with the Tarrant County Sherriff's office.

FOOD & BEVERAGE AND NUTRITION:

What kind of food will be available?
All the usual Aid Station Food (chips, cookies, crackers, candy, gels, etc). Stomachs can turn very easily in this kind of heat, so we try to have a wide selection to tempt you. All food and beverage will be individually packaged.

What kind of beverages will be available?
We're working on lining up sponsors, but we'll have bottled water and sodas. Our sports drink will be HAMMER Heed. And we'll have hot coffee for the overnight,

What about ice?
There will be LOTS of ice! Runners need ice for cooling and ice for beverages
Will there be any real food?
Yes, we'll have individual heat-n-eat foods, hot water, and 'just add water' soups. Basically, if it comes in a cup and you can microwave it, we'll have it! We'll also have a hot food each night. (TBD, probably pizza.)

When and where will we be served?
There will be a normal Aid Station in the timing area, with more substantial food served grab-n-go style in the Gathering Place. In keeping with the race's Fat-Ass roots, both areas will be largely self-serve. Note that ice is in coolers in the Gathering Place because it melts too quickly outside,

MEDICAL:

Why do you ask those questions when we register?
When TxER was Invitation Only, we could invite runners that knew how to handle the heat, or other runners that were vouched for by someone we know. Now we ask questions when you register to give us a better idea of who might need a little more help.
What precautions are there for the heat?
We start the race at 6PM so runners can rack up miles in the cooler hours. We try to have volunteer medical at the Gathering Place for the entire weekend, and will establish a Cooling Station and cooling protocol there. We'll have LOTS of ice and beverages available.
Anything else?
The loop course is actually the biggest precaution we have: runners are never far from the medical/cooling station in the Gathering Place. Plus, on the out-n-back, runners can see each other. We know from experience that runners will alert us if any other runner looks like they might be in distress; our friendly running community takes care of each other!
What about COVID, Flu and other viruses?
If you're not feeling well, please don't attend. You can switch to the Virtual at any time right up to 5 minutes before the race start! Just let the RDs or Timer know, or email us.

SLEEPING AND RESTING:

Do I have to run the whole time?
You can run as little or as much as your body wants. Most runners will run through the night until the heat of mid-day, and then take a rest or slow down until it gets cooler again.
Is there an official Race Hotel?
No. There are several hotels at the Jacksboro Highway exit, 2 exits away from the race exit. And Frog Camp rents out the buildings on the property through VRBO
Can I set up a chair and cooler at the edge of the course? Can I set up a tent or Canopy?
Personal aid stations, tents and shelters can be set up on starting at 4PM on Friday, and should be removed by 8PM on Sunday. All tents and shelters need to be on the grass. The locations for tent/canopy setup will probably be similar to 2023.
I got here early, can I set up early?
No. F.R.O.G. Camp is private property. They very graciously allow us to use it, so please don't abuse it. Runners cannot be on F.R.O.G. Camp property before 4 PM on Friday or after 8 PM on Sunday.
Can I set up a cot in the Gathering Place?
The primary purpose of the Gathering Place is to provide a cooling location. This means that the Medical setup gets first dibs on the available space, but the remaining spaces will be allocated on a 'space-available' basis at check-in with 48-hour runners getting preference. Our insurance provider asks that runners that are not fully vaccinated limit their time in the Gathering Place to getting food.
Are there any cots I can use?
I can't believe we have to say this, but if it's not your cot, please don't sleep on it.
Can I sleep in my car?
The course is small enough that you can use your car as your aid station or shelter. Please be aware, though, that some parking spots are not directly on the course.

SWAG:

What do I get for registering?
Every registrant gets to choose 1 swag item at registration (typically a RunRag, logo'd water bottle, trucker hat or mug). If you register for the 48-hour or for both 24-hours, you get 2 swag items. Also, our wonderful sponsors donate swag which changes every year.
The swag is all so great, so I can't choose! Can I buy one?
Yes!
What do I get for finishing?
See the "Awards and Records" section at the top of the page.
Do I get a shirt? Why not?
Shirts are not included in your registration, but they are available for purchase. We're trying to keep this race close to it's Fat-Ass roots, and also to keep costs down so there's more money for our charity beneficiaries. 50% of your shirt purchase goes to our beneficiaries.

WEATHER:

What's the weather like?
The average High temperature for this weekend is 97*, and the average Low temperature is 76*. The weather in August in Texas is almost uniformly hot and humid, but may be occasionally breezy. We recommend that you pack extra sunblock, and maybe an umbrella for sun protection.

Under what circumstances might the race be cancelled?
The race could be cancelled due to a severe weather event that causes dangerous conditions, or at the request of local authorities.

MISCELLANEOUS:

What time does the race start?
The 48-Hour and Friday Night 24-Hour start at 6PM on Friday. The Saturday Night 24-Hour starts at 6PM on Saturday.
Is there an early start?

We are unable to accommodate an early start.
I can't make it by 6. Can I still run?

Yes, you can start late, but the clock will already be running. So a 2-hour late start for the 24-Hour leaves you only 22 hours to run.
Are there any discounts?
All money raised goes to our Beneficiaries, so we don't offer discounts other than Early Bird registration

Pre-Race Information 2023

We’re so excited for the ELEVENTH year of this crazy race! This email should cover everything you need to know, but if something is missing, it's probably in the FAQs: https://runsignup.com/Race/WRATHEnduranceRuns/TxER-FAQs
WHERE / WHEN / WHY
LOCATION:  1824 Staree Lane, Ft Worth, 76179
PACKET PICKUP: Starting at 4 PM on the day of your event
PURPOSE: To raise money for Pediatric Cancer while helping us maintain or improve our fitness over the summer. And to have fun while meeting other crazy people!
**THE BIG FOUR RULES**
1) RESPECT COLESON’S F.R.O.G. CAMP RULES:
·No Alcohol. Coleson's does not allow alcohol on the premises. We won't be doing coozie checks, but to make compliance easy, Athletic Brewing has donated 3 cases of their great-tasting Golden, Lite and Hazy IPA non-alcoholic beers!
·Clean up after yourself. Coleson's is letting us use F.R.O.G. Camp at no charge, so we ask for your cooperation in leaving the property and Staree Lane as clean as when we got there.
·Respect the other residents: please be quiet at night around the house, Lodge and Barndominium, since they will all be occupied.
2) MANDATORY REFLECTIVE GEAR:  Our agreement with the Sherriff’s office requires that every runner needs to wear something reflective. Each runner has a reflective snap bracelet in the goody bag - it can be worn in many ways, such as attached to pack straps, etc.
3) PARK ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREAS:  Failure to do so could result in a DQ.
4) HELP US TO TIME YOU:  Every runner will have a timing chip on their bib. Please wear it on your left hip for the readers. But sometimes sweat can affect the 'read' so please also call out your number as you go past the timing tent.

V-TEX: The Virtual Texas Endurance Runs

**INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Texas Endurance Runs Virtual event. We so glad that you want to help us to support Pediatric Cancer patients and their families, even if you can’t be here in person!
Our aim is to make this pretty easy for you so you can concentrate on running. We'll send out this information in an email at the beginning of the running period. We'll also re-send it after the In-Person event, because we usually have a few people transfer into the Virtual at the last minute. If you have any questions, please reach out!
We’re always super-impressed by our Virtual runners, because it takes a LOT of self-motivation to do an event like this on your own!
Good luck and have fun!
John & Kay, WRATH Racing

** SCHEDULE

Virtual Run Period Start:  07/11/2025 12:01 AM
Virtual Run Period End:  08/10/2025 11:59 PM
Report your time and mileage by:  08/12/2025 11:59 PM
  • How long do I have for my event?
    - Your race does not need to be completed in a single run, but should be completed within a 48-hour period.
    - The clock starts when you start, so if you start at 3:04P on Monday, your Virtual will be complete at 3:03:59P on Wednesday
    - All runs within that 48-hour period will count towards your total.
  • Minimum mileage to be considered a "Finisher" is 1.25 miles, equivalent to 1 lap of the in-person course.
  • We want to share your experience! Post your photos in the Facebook group or on IG. Please use #TXER

** REPORTING YOUR TIME

  • From 07/11 to 08/12, the Results page on RunSignup will have a button where you can log in and report your total distance and time.
    - Click on the "Submit Virtual Results" button at the top of the screen
    - If you are logged in, the system will take you straight to the entry screen. If you aren't logged in, enter your information, and follow the prompts until you get to the entry screen
    - You may enter your total time and total mileage OR you may choose to just indicate that you completed your event. (It's honor system to report your mileage, because we can’t configure RunSignup for this type of virtual)
    - If you are on a desktop, this screen will also have the option to "Load Activities From File".  Drag the gpx file to the blue square on the left
    - Choose Submit
  • If you miss the reporting window, email the race directors for help

**AWARDS

If we have more than 5 runners registered for the Virtual Texas Endurance Run, we will give out a 1st-place award.
  • To be eligible for an award, you must submit your mileage and time on RunSignup AND email us us your proof of your mileage and time for verification.
    - We cannot download your GPX files from RunSignup.
  • How do we determine the winner?
    - The award goes to the person with the highest verified mileage in 48 gours, which may be different than the person with the highest reported mileage.
    - For example, if there are 5 runners registered, and only one submits verifiable proof, that runner is the winner.
    - This has happened at our other virtual races, so it’s always worth it to send us your proof!
  • Your proof must contain:
    - Start Time and Date
    - End Time and Date
    - Total Mileage
  • What type of proof is best?
    - The best is a link to your Garmin/ Strava/ RunKeeper etc
    - If you 'double-dip' with an in-person race, you can send us a link to their results
    - Other proof is acceptable as long as we can determine your start time/end time and total mileage.
    - Photos of your watch may be acceptable if they contain the required data.
    - If you do not want an award, you don't need to send us proof.

**SWAG & SHIPPING

  • All runners that are registered for the Virtual get:
    - Custom Texas Endurance Run medal
    - Goody bag featuring gifts from our sponsors
    - Swag item
    - Virtual bib
    - Distance sticker (If you do not report a distance, you will get a sticker with no mileage.)
  • We try to ship all swag within a week after the end of the Virtual event. We can’t ship it earlier because we won’t know which distance sticker to send you until the reporting period is over.
    - To save costs (and maximize our donation), we prefer to ship everything together, so if you purchased a shirt, it will be sent with your virtual packet.
    - We ship USPS, and can provide tracking numbers if requested.
    - Please make sure that your mailing address is correct on your RunSignup profile.
  • Runners are responsible to pay Shipping & Handling for reshipping virtual packets, store items, and/or awards that have been returned as Undeliverable. So please ensure we have a good shipping address for you!

** VIRTUAL FAQs

  • Do I have to track my run with a particular app?
No, but if you intend to submit your proof for the Award, we recommend Garmin or Strava.
  • What is 'proof'?
    - It's usually a link to your Garmin/Strava/RunKeeper. etc, but it can be something else, as long as we can determine your start time/end time and total mileage.
    - For instance, if you are 'double-dipping' the 48-Hour with a 100-miler, you can send us the link to the 100-mile results.
    - Multiple photos of your watch may be eligible if they contain the required data (but please help us out by organizing them somehow.)
    - Remember, we only need proof of your run if you want to be eligible for an award.
  • Do I have to report my mileage & time?
If you are not interested in potentially winning the Virtual, then you do not have to report your mileage and time. Instead, you can simply tell us that you have completed your event.
  • Can I still get my swag if I don’t report my time? Can I still get my swag if I don’t even tell you I’ve completed the event?
You do not have to report your results or indicate the race is complete to get your swag.
  • Can I run on a treadmill? Can I submit a picture of the treadmill display as Proof?
No, not for TxER. The weather plays a big role in this event, so we want you to run outside, please, even if your weather is a lot cooler than Texas.
  • I'm trying to enter my time but it’s not working. Help!
Please email your results to us, and we'll manually enter them for you.
  • Can I get a brick if I run 100 miles virtually?
Sorry, no. But we'll send you a special T-Shirt if we can verify that you ran 100 miles or more.

About This Race

The 48-hour and 24-Hour at the Texas Endurance Runs are definitely not for the faint of heart, that's for sure! Runners need to be heat acclimated to make headway during the day, and need to have a good race plan to maximize the cooler nights. But in some ways the crazy heat is kind of the point - the runners form friendships in the face of adversity that they otherwise wouldn't or couldn't. For someone new to the sport, those kinds of connections to veterans, and the tips and stories they share, could be invaluable.
For the first 8 years of the race, it was 'by invitation' only - you had to know the RD or one of their friends to get an invitation to run, so we had an idea whether you could handle the race. The original race was a Fat-Ass event with no permits and no shirts. Runners camped in the yard, and ran through the neighborhood and local park. John & Kay donated ice, water, and a location, and any snacks or sodas they had lying around the house. Runners brought food and gear to share. Many new friendships were made. (Read more about the history of WRATH on our blog. )
Now the race has a course that's easier to monitor, so we've opened it to the public - but we're still growing it slowly so we get to know everyone that races. We've added participant medals and some swag but we'll keep that friendly "Running Party" atmosphere. Runners are still encouraged to bring stuff to share, and the bulk of your fee still benefits charity. And we'll continue the tradition of a hand-painted brick for 100 miles instead of a buckle, because bricks are hardened by heat, just like our runners.
