Come one - come all to the TexasMan Triathlon! This is an event you don't want to miss whether you are new to the sport, veteran, club member or supporting your participant. Competition will be tough and exhilarating as you compete against the best athletes around. No need for Texas residency

Venue: Join us at the beautiful Lake Ray Roberts for an open water swim, rural bike course (roads OPEN to vehicle traffic) and a shaded run course followed by a killer post-race party and pancakes by Dallas Athletes' renowned chefs.

USAT Competitive Rules 3.4a - "It is the participants responsibility to know the course". Please review course maps and race guide carefully for additional instructions and responsibilities,

SAFETY:

  • Earpieces projecting sound are not permissible on the entire course. 
  • Riding in the traffic lane is not permitted

WEATHER POLICY
Our goal is to produce a full event as scheduled and only modify these plans due to safety concerns some of which can be caused by weather conditions. 
In the event of inclement weather, the start time may be delayed by up to 1 hour. Past this time event courses may be shortened or altered to protect participants.
If conditions are unsafe, event changes including cancellation are at the discretion of the Race Director.

RECOMMENDATION: Roads are "chip seal". Lower your tire pressure at least 5 - 8 pounds for an easier, flat-free ride.

Awards

The awards will be three deep per age group along with Athena and Clydesdale (39 and under, 40+).
One award deep for overall female & male, overall masters female & male and overall grand masters female & male.

 

Age Divisions:
14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 -69, 70-74, and 75 & over

 

Masters Division (one award deep for each below):
Male – 40-59
Female – 40-54
Grand Masters:
Male – 60 and over
Female – 55 and over

 

Athena/Clydesdale Division:
For each distance (Sprint, Olympic, X50), there will be awards for both Athena and Clydesdale categories, three awards deep for male 39 and under, male 40+, female 39 and under and female 40+.

 

Aqua-bike:
There will be Aqua-bike division for the X-50 distance. Awards are one deep for the overall female and male winner.

 

Sprint Duathlon
There will be a Duathlon option for Sprint.  Awards are one deep for the overall female and male winner.

 

 

You or a designated person must be present to pick up your award. Awards are not available for pick up or mailing post event.

DAR Triathlons are USAT sanctioned events and conducted in accordance with USA Triathlon rules.
1. Photo ID is required.
2. Adult competitors MUST pick up their own packet! You cannot pick up for someone else or
    send someone to get your packet.
               a. Each adult member of a relay team must pick up their own packet.
               b. With proper identification, an adult can pick up for a minor.
3. Each competitor must be a current member of USAT or purchase a one-day USAT permit during the registration process.
4. Preregister on your own device before arriving at Packet Pickup.
5. No event transfers or deferrals at Packet Pickup
5. No Race Day Packet Pickup unless:
               a.  Athlete lives more than 30 miles from the nearest packet pickup location.
               b.  Athlete has an email permission/confirmation from info@dallasathletesracing.com.
6. Race Day online registration and Packet Pickup close 30 minutes before race start.

USAT RULES


Below is a "CliffsNotes" summary of the USA Triathlon Multisport competitive rules.

1. Entire Course: It is the participant’s responsibility to read all supplied information provided in the event materials; and to know and keep on the course. Competitors are required to follow the prescribed course and to stay within all coned lanes. Cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue. Cyclists shall not cross a solid yellow center line for ANY reason. Cyclists must obey all applicable traffic laws at all times. 
Penalty: Referee's discretion

2. Helmets: Only helmets approved by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) may be used in USAT sanctioned events. 

3. Chin Straps: The helmet must be securely fastened at all times when the participant is in possession of the bike, which means from the time they remove their bike from the rack at the start of the bike leg, until after they have placed their bike on the rack at the finish of the bike leg. DO NOT unbuckle your chin strap unless your bike is racked.
Penalty: Disqualification on the course; Variable time penalty in transition area only.

4. Outside Assistance: No assistance other than that offered by race and medical officials may be used. Triathlons and duathlons are individual tests of fitness.

5. Transition Area: All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike corral. The wheel of the bicycle must be down on the side of the assigned space. All participants must return their bicycles to an upright position in their designated bicycle corral. No person shall interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant. All bar ends must be solidly plugged. No participant shall bring ANY glass containers into the transition area (Disqualification).
Penalty: Variable time penalty

6. Bike: Drafting--keep at least five bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. If you move into the zone, you must pass within 20 seconds. Position--keep to the right-hand side of the lane of travel unless passing. Pass on left only. Blocking--riding on the left side of the lane without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass. Overtaken--once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear, before attempting to pass again. Penalty: Variable time penalty 

7. Unsportsmanlike-Like Conduct: Foul, harsh, argumentative or abusive language or other unsportsmanlike conduct directed at race officials, USA Triathlon officials, volunteers, spectators or fellow athletes is forbidden.
Penalty: Disqualification

8. Electronic Equipment: Headphones, headsets, or ear buds are not to be worn at any time during the race.
Penalty: Variable time penalty

9. Race numbers: Athletes are required to wear race numbers at all times during the run. Numbers must face the front and be clearly visible at all times. Bike numbers must be clearly visible from either side of the bike.  Numbers may not be cut or folded or altered in any way. DO NOT transfer your number to any other athlete or take a number from an athlete that is not competing.
Penalty: Variable time penalty for missing or altered number, Disqualification and one year suspension from membership in USAT for transferring a number without race director permission.

10. Wetsuits: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wetsuit at their own discretion, provided, however that participants who wears a wetsuit within such temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Above 84 degrees, wetsuits are prohibited.

11. Abandonment: All personal equipment and belongings taken out onto the course must stay on the athlete the entire time. No garbage, clothing, etc. shall be thrown on the course.

Swim Wave


Swim waves will be determined a couple weeks before the race.
When you pick up your packet, you will receive a swim cap assigning your start wave, you must wear your swim cap during the swim portion of the event.

Given the time of year, Texasman is traditionally wet suit legal. Please note, the race officials will announce race morning if the event is or is not wet-suit legal. Bring your wet suit to transition and await the final determination. Texasman Venue Overview

Texasman Transition Map

Transition will be open at 5:45 a.m. and will close at 6:45 a.m. Please have your helmet available for inspection. Body marking will be available at the transition entrance.
Save time entering transition race morning by having a friend body mark you before you arrive to transition to avoid waiting in line! Using a black, thick sharpie, have a friend write your race number vertically, (sized 2 inches minimum per number) on your outer left arm and outer left calf. Be sure the skin is clean and is free of lotion or sunscreen prior to labeling.  

Texasman Swim Map

This is an open water swim. The Texasman Sprint swim distance is 400 yards. The Texasman Olympic and X-50 swim distance is 1 mile.
When you pick up your packet, you will receive a swim cap that is assigned to your swim start wave. You must wear your swim cap during the swim portion of the event.

The X-50 and Olympic races are two-loop courses.  Upon completion of the first loop, exit the water and run along the beach (approximately 100 yds.) cross the check mat then reenter the water at the start point. 

 

 

Texasman Sprint/ Duathlon

The Texasman Sprint Bike distance is 17.5 miles.

The Texasman Sprint Run distance is 3.1 miles.

Texasman Duathlon Run 1

Duathlon participants start on the beach and proceed to the Run - 1 course finishing in Transition. Upon completion of the bike course proceed to Run - 2 ending at the finish line and post party.
