About The Great Escape Triathlon
Join us for 10th edition of The Great Escape & Mini Escape Triathlons on June 13th & 14th, 2026!! We are excited to offer a well-organized, family & beginner friendly triathlon in Jefferson City, Missouri!
To complete the Escape, athletes will have a snake swim in the 4 lane, 50 meter pool at Ellis Porter Riverside Park, then on to the bike over city & rural roads to the outskirts of the new Missouri State Prison and back. The run will take athletes to the old historic Missouri State Penitentiary and back to cross the finish line and earn the classic Great Escape medal! With triathlon & duathlon events for ages 13 & up (The *Great* Escape), and a triathlon event for ages 5 - 12 (The *Mini* Escape), there is something for the whole family.
If you're speedy, we've got all kinds of prizes and swag for the overall winners, plus finisher medals & participant shirts for everyone, so mark your calendars for the 2026 Great Escape Triathlon!!
All Races Transition/Pool area
The transition area will be in the same location as previous years for the adult races on Sunday.
There will be two transition areas for the Mini Escape on Saturday. The first is a swim out/bike out behind the amphitheater on the circle drive. The second is the bike in/run out transition that will be at the last parking lot at the top of the hill east of the park pavilion. The finish remains near the amphitheater. We are still finalizing some details, so the map may change.
Awards
This is the 10th year for The Great Escape Triathlon and the third for our Mini Escape Triathlon for kids and youth. Here are our award and swag offerings this year, thanks to our local sponsors: Last Flight Brewery, Steam House, Yannis Coffee Zone, Smoothie King, Fleet Feet and Ready Popped.
