About Tour de Lavender
With vistas of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains, the blue expanse of the Salish Sea, and multi-hued fields of wondrous lavender to roam, the “Tour de Lavender” is more than just a ride, it’s an experience! Since 2013, the Tour de Lavender has given cyclists from beginner to expert the chance to celebrate the stunning beauty of the Olympic Peninsula and enjoy the renowned lavender farms of the Sequim-Dungeness. Celebrate some more when you return to the finish area with pizza, beer garden, socializing. You can also pick up any purchases that you made at the farms, which we will transport back to the event finish area for you!
Peninsula Trails Coalition
Proceeds from the Tour de Lavender go to the Peninsula Trails Coalition, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and are used for the construction and maintenance of the Olympic Discovery Trail, as well as advocacy and education.
There are a number of ways to participate in the Tour de Lavender:
  • The 35-mile Fun Ride.  The Fun Ride on the Tour de Lavender is a loop course and is for cyclists looking for a more casual, relaxed ride. The route is over mostly level terrain, and most of it is on low traffic country roads as well as the Olympic Discovery Trail, the Peninsula’s crown jewel of scenic bikeways.
  • The 64-mile Metric Century.   The Metric Century is also a loop course. It is mostly over level or gently rolling terrain but incorporates two more challenging hill climbs. It follows backcountry roads and segments of the region’s premier scenic bikeway, and the Olympic Discovery Trail. Elevation gained on the route is more than 2,000 feet.
Both courses visit multiple lavender farms. Each farm has a dedicated Tour de Lavender support station offering snacks, beverages, and quick access to mechanical support if your bike needs it. Each farm also has its own unique character, but all are dedicated to making your visit a memorable experience and truly “cyclist-friendly.”

Fun Ride

The Fun Ride is a casual, relaxed ride

The Fun Ride on the Tour de Lavender is for cyclists looking for a more casual, relaxed ride. The route is over mostly level terrain, and most of it is on low traffic country roads as well as the Olympic Discovery Trail, the Peninsula’s crown jewel of scenic bikeways.

34 Mile Loop

The complete loop is 34 miles, and even beginner cyclists have, in the past, used this to chalk up a personal best as a stepping-stone to more demanding rides. But you don’t have to commit to the entire 34 miles! On the Fun Ride you have multiple options that let you find your “Goldilocks” distance and pace–not too hard, not too easy, not too far, not too short…just right.

Visit Lavender Farms

The Fun Ride route heads east at the start and you can visit many different lavender farms if you ride the whole loop: Purple Haze, Jardin du Soleil, In Bloom Lavender Farms, B&B Family Lavender Farm, Martha Lane Lavender, Victor’s Lavender, and Washington Lavender.

Along the way, you’ll have abundant views of open prairie, water, and mountains. You have the option of a short side-trip to visit the 3 Crabs Wetlands Reserve and the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge, both of which offer stunning views north across the Salish Sea to the San Juan Islands and Canada. If you’re lucky you might even be rewarded with the special appearance of seals or orcas playing close-in to shore.

Ride the entire 34-mile route, or divide it into smaller pieces with a loop to a select group of farms or one or more “out-and-back” treks to individual farms. Each farm has a dedicated Tour de Lavender support station offering snacks, beverages, and quick access to mechanical support if your bike needs it. Each farm also has its own unique character, but all are dedicated to making your visit a memorable experience and truly “cyclist-friendly.”

The Fun Ride is perfect for families! It’s a cycling adventure the kids will love!

Metric Century

The Tour de Lavender Metric Century is for…

The Tour de Lavender Metric Century is for cyclists seeking a challenge or who want to push themselves to a personal best record in terms of distance or time—or both. The route is mostly over level or gently rolling terrain but incorporates two more challenging hill climbs. It follows backcountry roads and segments of the region’s premier scenic bikeway, the Olympic Discovery Trail. Elevation gained on the route is more than 2,000 feet.

64+ Mile Loop

It is a 64+-mile loop that heads west from the start, cuts south into the foothills of the Olympic Mountains on the edge of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, runs east through the aptly named Happy Valley and on to Sequim Bay State Park. Turning westward again it skirts Sequim Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca (the Salish Sea) out to Agnew before returning to downtown Sequim. On the way, you’ll get to visit all the farms on the Tour de Lavender. Nearly every mile offers breath-taking panoramas including 1000-ft plus hilltop vantage points. You have the option of a short side-trip to visit the 3 Crabs Wetlands Reserve and the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge, both of which offer stunning views north across the Salish Sea to the San Juan Islands and Canada. If you’re lucky you might even be rewarded with the special appearance of seals or orcas playing close to shore.

Convenience Stops & Route Options

Ride the entire 64+ miles to reach your goal of chalking up your first (or one more) Metric Century. If, along the way, however, you decide you don’t want to “go the distance,” there are numerous options to “bail,” and reduce your total mileage. In any case, whatever lavender farms you visit, you’ll find a dedicated Tour de Lavender support station offering snacks, beverages, and quick access to mechanical support if your bike needs it. On the Metric Century there’s a mid-way stop at the Sequim Bay State Park just west of  Blyn where snacks, beverages, and mechanical support are available.

Whether you attack the route with a hard-charging pace, or make it a social ride with time to stop and smell the lavender, the Tour de Lavender Metric Century will be one you’ll remember fondly!

The Farms

Lavender magic lives in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, also known as “America’s Provence,” on Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula.

The reason is simple: the unique climate of the Northern Olympic Peninsula combined with the vision, dedication, and love of entrepreneurial farmers who, since the 1990s have transformed this area into the largest lavender producing region in the United States.

The Tour de Lavender takes cyclists out to Sequim’s iconic lavender farms and gives them an “up close and personal” look at the fragrant purple flower and the people who’ve helped make Sequim a major tourist destination.

Farms including in the 2022 ride include:
