University City Memorial Day Run

Mark your calendar for the 52nd Annual University City Memorial Day Run, May 25, 2026 with our traditional schedule of events, a 5K, a 10K and a Fun Run! 

The University City Memorial Day Run takes place each Memorial Day in University City, Missouri. Begun in 1974 by a few interested joggers, over the next Fifty-One years it has grown into one of the most popular and largest family races in the St. Louis metropolitan area.    

The University City Memorial Day Run provides runners of any level with an exciting and fun experience. The 10K and 5K runs are the main event but there is also a fun run for the whole family.

Cool off after your race!  This year, your Memorial Day Run bib number is good for one FREE admission to University City’s Heman Park Pool only on race day, May 25th. 

At 52-years-old, the Memorial Day Run is just a youngster compared to University City’s historic WPA-era swimming pool!  Opened in 1933, Heman Park Pool celebrates its 93rd anniversary on May 30th and is now completely renovated after the devastating flood of July 2022.  It is one of the area’s largest public pools and was named “Best Pool” in 2023 by the Riverfront Times.

You can complete your deferral and register for either the IN-PERSON or VIRTUAL 2021 University City Memorial Day Run for NO CHARGE.  

Click HERE for instructions how to claim your Deferred Registration.  Deadline for Deferral Transfers is May 29, 2021.  Deferrals cannot be used for the In-Person 5K after the maximum allowed by the St. Louis County Health Department has been reached.

Family Registration Fee:

• February 14 thru April 30 - $75
• May 1 thru May 15 - $95 (No Family Registration after May 15)

Family registration consists of a maximum of 5 participants from the same household - maximum of 2 in the 5K and/or 10K plus up to 3 in the Fun Run.

SAFETY MEASURES

University City Memorial Day Run Committee is passionate about running and providing quality events. We are committed to doing so while following the health and safety guidelines set by the St. Louis County Health Department. Please see some of the safety measures we will have in place for the event, and please check back here often as guidelines are subject to change.

Masks
All volunteers and event staff will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of the event. You will not be asked to wear your mask while you are running. All staff and volunteers will have masks on.

Packet Pickup
There will be no in-person race day registration available (online only). Friends and family welcome are to spectate and cheer, but please limit attendees to those living in your home, and remind them that they must wear masks on race site. 

Restrooms
Port-o-johns will be set side by side with a 4 foot gap between them so lines are 6 ft. apart from each other. Hand sanitizer will be provided inside and outside of the port-o-johns. Hand washing stations will be available outside of the port-o-johns as well.

Water Stations
We will have one water station on the course, it will consist of small water bottles for each participant. Volunteers will be required to wear mask and gloves while setting up the tables. Tables will be sanitized prior to setting water bottles on them. Bottles will be placed 12" apart and runners will have to grab their own bottle. Volunteers will not be allowed to hand bottles to runners. Trash cans will be available to minimize our footprint. We will leave the course as clean. if not cleaner, as when we arrived.

Post-Race
There will not be an award ceremony, as we want to limit crowding at the finish area. Runners will be encouraged to depart earlier than a traditional race.  All post-race refreshments will be pre-packaged.
