Course
Country Park is a wonderful backdrop for a race but be warned it is not flat. As you make your way around the lake, runners will enjoy a mostly shaded course, opportunities to encourage other participants, and hundreds of new friends cheering you on at the finish line!
MAP #1: Lap #1 for Solo Marathoner and First teammate only!
Turn by Turn Directions
- You will run the loop clockwise. The marathon is 16 laps.
- The first lap is modified to 2.2 miles (run clockwise through Country Park and Jaycee Park) and the remaining 15 laps are all 1.6 miles.
- The FIRST teammate OR Solo Marathoner will begin at the Start/finish line and run south (east side of Country Park). Turn left into Jaycee Park parking lot entrance (volunteers will be there to direct you). You will run through Jaycee Park to the Forest Lawn Drive intersection and turn around here. Return to Country Park entrance.
- Once the Jaycee Park loop is completed by the FIRST teammate or soloist, turn left to re-enter Country Park to finish the first loop.
- Soloists will continue through the start/finish line for remaining loops.
- Team members can pass baton to next runner before or after the start/finish line. PLEASE SPREAD OUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO MINIMIZE BOTTLE NECKING IN HAND OFF AREA.

Inset #1: Solo marathoner (first lap) and first teammate are the only participants that will run into Jaycee Park. Once all participants exited Jaycee Park, the gate into the park will be closed for remainder of the event.

Course Info
Experience the Heartbreaker
There really is no better way to share the day with a few of your closest friends, families, co-workers, and running groups by taking a stroll around Greensboro's challenging loop in beautiful Country Park. You can't find an experience like this anywhere!
Every participant receives a hoodie (must register at least 3 weeks in advance), finisher's medal, hospitality and the most fantastic race day experience. Get your team together and start planning the fun. The hoodie is always awesome. The day will be epic.
How the Heartbreaker works:
- Decide whether you want to run 16 laps (26.2 miles) around Country Park all by yourself, or
- Recruit from 1 to 7 of your besties to run with you
- Pick a cool team name
- Register and create your team (DON'T WORRY you only pay for registration! Everyone on the team pays their own way. Phew, right!)
- Remind your teammates to register. Link to team page HERE.
- Designate a team "captain" to pick up your hoodies, baton, bibs, and any other goodies that we have for packet pickup
- Show up on race day and set up your tent and "relaxation zone" for while you aren't running
- Designate the sequence of runners for your team - another good job for that "captain." Your team MUST alternate and run individual laps in sequence to be eligible for awards. For example, for a 4-person team, the same person would run laps 1,5,9, and 13, another would run laps 2,6,10, and 14. and so forth. In other words, you may not run all of your laps at once - part of the challenge is the break in between. Questions? Email us!
- Have fun!

FAQS
Can I register on race day?
No race day registration! You may register online until Friday, February 7, 2025, 6pm (EST). When online registration is closed the event is closed.
To participate you must have a full team (whether that be solo, two-person, four-person, or five+ person).
Where can I check in my gear?
Wherever you set up your team's tent! Your teammates will watch your gear while you run. If you are running solo, we can hold your personal items at gear check near the Pavilion.
Where can I park?
All parking will be located at Jaycee Park (3802 Jaycee Park Dr., GSO 27410).
Please visit the PARKING tab for specific unloading and parking procedures. Volunteers will be able to help assist teams and direct parking.
**NO PARKING AT THE GREENSBORO SCIENCE CENTER FOR THE EVENT. RISK BEING TOWED AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE.
How do I transport my team's stuff into the park, and out of the park, for race day?
There is a limited window in which vehicles will be permitted into the park to drop off their team gear. This is a drop and exit scenario. You MAY NOT set up with your vehicle in the park. Detailed information will be posted race week with map and timeline. One vehicle per team please.
If you do not come during the posted drop off hours you will need to carry your materials from your vehicle. You MAY unload from the Science Center BUT you CAN NOT park at the Science Center.
Post race you are NOT permitted to come into the park until AFTER the event is complete (course closes at 4PM). Plan on carrying your materials to your vehicle.
Will there be any food or drinks provided for the event?
Yes! Junction311 will provide water, Gatorade and snacks for all race participants at the pavilion. We will offer a separate aid station for our soloist near the start/finish line that includes water, Gatorade, gels, fruit, salty and sweet snacks.
What if my team signed up as a 5+ team (or any other team size) and someone dropped out/didn't register?
No problem! You can find a replacement, see below. IF YOUR TEAM DOES NOT FILL THEIR SPOTS, YOU MUST CONTACT US SO WE CAN CHANGE YOUR TEAM TO THE APPROPRIATE CATEGORY! Example: Bob, Jim, Paul, Sue are signed up on a 5+ person team. Their 5th can't make it. Someone from their team needs to contact us so we can change them to the 4-person team category! That way their team will qualify for the correct awards!
What if my team needs another member? I don't have a team, and I want to join one? I can't make it and want to transfer my spot to another person?
Social media (Facebook & Instagram) is a great way to find teammates and/or to post that you want to join a team!
Post your request on social media (Facebook & Instagram) and tag us @junction311 @Heartbreakermarathon - we will work to connect you with a team/teammates!
Find information on the Parking and Team Drop off tabs.
Can I walk the event?
You can run/walk the event, but you/your team must be finished by 4 PM.

A Simple Gesture
A Simple Gesture (ASG) is a nonprofit hunger relief organization that collects food from generous donors. Donors are neighbors, businesses and faith communities that fill green reusable grocery bags that are then collected by volunteers and distributed to our food pantry partners.
Our program has three main goals:
- To ensure no child is hungry
- To create new neighborhood connections and strengthen our community
- To serve as a model for other communities
The program’s founder, Jonathan Trivers, began this effort in California in 2011; there are now 65 chapters nationwide. A Simple Gesture serves Greensboro, High Point, and Guilford County and helps cities throughout the country set up their own programs. Contact us to start A Simple Gesture in your town!
