About Ville to Ville Relay

The 2026 Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay is Sold Out. Interested participants should join our email list for info on future races or check out the Ville to Ville Coastal Relay or the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay.

The Ville to Ville Relay celebrates the beautiful region from Asheville, NC, to Greenville, SC. It is a 72-mile team-running event that travels from the peaks to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, through local craft breweries, and into quaint southern towns.

The 9th Annual event will be held on April 11, 2026. The first flight of teams will start the relay around 5:00 am in Asheville, NC. Over the next few hours, additional teams will depart on their journey through the Carolinas. Each team will consist of three to six runners who will split 12 legs, ranging from 3 to 9 miles. Each team will provide its own race vehicle to drop off and pick up runners at designated transition areas along the course route. Ville to Ville teams will arrive at Hampton Station in Greenville, SC between 3:00-8:00 pm for a finish line celebration, including music, food, and craft brews.

Team Payments

All teams will be required to pay a $300 deposit during their initial registration and may choose to pay the full $775 fee. Teams that only pay the deposit must pay the remaining team fee ($475) by midnight on January 15, 2026.  Teams with unpaid fees on January 16, 2026, will lose their spot in the race and their non-refundable deposit. Team rosters should be finalized by March 5, 2026. There is a 5.5% processing fee on all online payments.

Race Theme - Saturday Morning Cartoons

Get ready to throw it back—this year’s relay theme is Saturday Morning Cartoons! Think Scooby-Doo, Rugrats, Ninja Turtles, or whatever you couldn’t wait to watch in your pajamas. Dress up, decorate those vans, and let’s bring our favorite cartoons to life out on the course!

Age Requirements

All runners must be 21 or older to participate in the Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay.

Team Name

Be creative, but keep it classy. Your team name will appear in lots of public places, so make sure it would make your mother proud. You will submit your team name during registration, but you can change it until March 5, 2026.

Team Categories

Open Co-ed (minimum of 2 females)
Open  (all-male team or all males plus 1 female)
Open Female (all females)
Masters  (all-male team or all males plus 1 female, all members 40+)
Masters Female (all females, all members 40+)
Masters Co-ed (minimum of 2 females, all members 40+)
*Team categories will be chosen during registration, but they can be changed until race weekend. Team sizes range from 3 to 6 team members.

Team Captain

Each team will have a team captain (we will initially use the name and contact info of the person registering). We will provide regular race information and updates for the team captain on our Captain Resources page and through monthly email newsletters. Team Captains can be transferred to another person at any time. Existing captains should email info@villetovillerelay.com and Cc the new captain if they request a captain change.

Team Pace

To make it to the post-race party in one day, the team must maintain a pace of 11:00 minutes per mile or less.  This doesn’t mean everyone on the team has to run at this pace, but it does mean that if you have slower team members, you will need faster ones to keep your team on track.

You will estimate a team pace when you register your team with an average min/mile pace for all runners on the entire course.  For a 6-person team, each runner will run twice between 3-9 miles, so a 10K time average would be expected. Final team pace estimates will be due on March 5, 2026.  Visit our team resources page to see our pace calculator to help with your estimation.

Cancellation & Weather

This is a rain-or-shine event. The race director has the right to change the course or the event in the event of inclement weather or state restrictions.

Please arrive at the start no more than 25 minutes prior to your start time. Your first runner should collect your slap bracelet with timing chip from the U-Haul Check-in Station and can proceed to the Starting Line when their start wave is announced.  There are no rolling starts, so please start at your exact time. Slap bracelets will be exchanged between active runners at each transition.

Active runners must wear a bib while on the course. Your bib also has a detachable coupon to claim your free beer at the finish line celebration.  Safety pins are in this packet for your convenience.

Get ready for a day packed with fun and unforgettable memories as your team travels from Asheville to Greenville. The 2025 edition takes you on a scenic, rolling journey from the peaks of the Appalachian Mountains to the beautiful foothills of Greenville.

Safety First
Your safety is our top priority! Please carefully review our pre-event guidebook and watch our safety video to familiarize yourself with all race rules. Pay special attention to the runner and driver directions in this guide and the contact numbers for race headquarters. Remember, this is an open-road course—stay alert and look out for yourself and your fellow runners.

A Heartfelt Thanks
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who makes Ville to Ville possible. A big thank you to the cities along the course for being such welcoming hosts and event partners. We also appreciate the incredible support of our sponsors and brewery partners. Special thanks go to our charity partners and volunteers, who work tirelessly on race day to assist runners and uphold the Ville to Ville mission. And of course, we couldn’t do it without our Brew Crew—the friends and family who travel far and wide to help us bring this event to life.

Let’s Get Creative
We encourage you to join in the fun by dressing up as your favorite Holiday and decorating your vans to reflect what you love about the holiday. Our Brew Crew and sponsors will be on the lookout for the best team name, themed costumes, vehicle decorations, Instagram presence, and the coveted “Ville to Ville Team of the Year” award, given to the team that shines in every category.

Finish Line Celebration
Join us at Hampton Station for the Finish Line Celebration! Enjoy live music with DJ Sawce, delicious offerings from local food trucks, Ville to Ville gear, and, of course, plenty of local craft brews to toast your accomplishment.

From our family to yours, we wish you a fantastic race weekend. Have a great time, stay safe, and let’s make this year unforgettable!

Cheers,
Zack & Anna Hall

Race Weekend Reminders

Open Roads Course
This is an open roads course.  Stay alert and run against traffic unless otherwise directed by course signage, law enforcement, staff or volunteers. Please pay attention to driver directions versus runner directions to protect the safety of our runners.

Safety & Hydration Equipment - REQUIRED BY ALL TEAMS
Safety equipment including a reflective vest, head lamp, and blinking LED light is required for all runners who run before 7am or after 7pm and in inclement conditions.  Safety Gear is also required for all Leg 2 runners! Hydration packs may be required if the temperature/humidity reach elevated levels. Please be prepared!

All runners must carry water or hydration fluid during any run where the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (the measure of heat stress in direct sunlight) reaches an elevated threat level.  Hydration packs or hand-held water bottles are recommended and we do suggest that each person have their own hydration system available on race day. Our staff team will monitor the WBGT during race day and notify teams and event volunteers if the hydration safety requirement is put in place.

Starting Line
Please arrive at the starting line no more than 25 minutes prior to your start time. Your first runner can enter the starting line area when their start wave is announced and should plan to start at your exact starting time.

Slap Bracelets
Slap bracelets will be picked up at the starting line and should be used to pass between each active runner along the course. Your team’s timing chip will be
attached to the slap bracelet. Timing chips must be turned in at the finish line.

Team Vehicles & Hangtags
Each team is allowed only one team vehicle on the course and your vehicle hangtag must be displayed on your rearview mirror for the entirety of the race. This hangtag will be required to park at transition areas and at designated team parking lots at the finish line. Reminder no RV’s, Limo’s, or Buses are
allowed on the course.

Transition Area Opening & Closing Times
Transition areas on the course will be open at designated times for each leg. Teams that run more than 30 seconds per mile faster or slower than your
submitted team pace may run the risk of having to hold at a transition or skip a leg. V2V HQ will communicate directly with teams about holding or skipping legs. Teams that skip legs will be able to have two runners run the next leg together.

Food and Hydration
Bring the food and water that you need for yourself for the full day. There are limited food options along the course, so it is important that your team van is well stocked with food and drinks. Also, this is a pack in/pack out event, so please put all garbage in the trash bag provided in your team bag.

Bibs
Active runners must wear the team bib while on the course. Your bib also has a detachable coupon to claim your first beer from Yee-Haw Brewing Company at the finish line celebration. Safety pins are in the team packet.

Medals
Medals for each team member are in your team bag. We encourage you to place medals on your teammates as they finish their final leg of the relay! Have a blast out there and stay safe!!!

Starting Times

Starting Times FAQ:

How was my starting wave selected?

Teams are placed in waves based on the following:

  1. Evaluating the estimated team pace submitted, team member individual paces submitted, and past results to determine your team's overall estimated pace.

  2. Using a +/- variance of your team's estimated pace of 30 seconds per mile to determine your team's pace range.

  3. Reaching the finish line between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

  4. Reducing vehicle and congestion on the course and in parking areas.

  5. Keeping teams within a 5.5-hour window so police, volunteers, and staff can assist your team.

Can I change our starting time?

We used an advanced computer program this year to put teams into a starting wave. Once your start wave is locked into position, changes will not be possible. All teams are placed in waves based upon the goal of your team reaching the finish line between 2:00-8:00 pm while maximizing fun on the course and spreading teams out evenly to keep traffic counts manageable at transition areas. Teams are not placed from slowest to fastest.

If we adjusted the start times requested after they were announced and during race week, it would require hours of reorganization and prevent us from adequately preparing the course and carrying out the events necessary for a successful race weekend. We understand things happen, and team changes occur, even at the last minute. If your team feels you will arrive too early or not reach the transition zones or finish line while they are open with your current start time, please plan to hold your runner or skip legs as needed and text Race Day HQ (803-728-4553) about these changes. Teams that skip legs can have team members run together during subsequent legs.
