Course Info

Support (Hydration/Toilets): There is no water station on the 5k course.  Half Marathon racers will see aid stations a total of 5 times at approximately miles 2.5, 4.6 7. 8.5 and 11.3.  Water and electrolyte replacement drink will also be offered in the start/finish expo area.

Portajohns are located at the expo parking area as well as on the course at Half Marathon locations 3.55 miles and 9.7 miles.

Energy Gels will be available at the mile 8.5 and 11.3 aid station.

Aid stations will have water and an electrolyte replacement drink. There are cups at the aid stations on the course.  There are NO CUPS at the finish line.  There is drinking water available at the finish line. Please bring your water bottle!

Course Surface: The Westy Half/5k will take place on the Big Dry Creek Trail.  This trail has gravel, dirt, and paved portions.  It is acceptable for strollers.  Dogs on leashes are welcome on this course.

The half marathon will follow a 'bow tie' style course, running west to a turnaround, then back near the start line, past the expo area and out to the east to a turnaround point where you will turn around and then return to the finish line.  The 5k course is pure out and back running north east from the start line to a turnaround point and then running back exactly how you left to the finish line.

FAQs

CUP FREE FINISH: All 3W Races events maintain a cup free finish area.  This means that water will be available for refilling your personal water bottles.  Bins for holding your water bottle near the Finish Line will be available on race day morning.  Biodegradable, cups will be used on the course, but no disposable cups will be available at the finish line. Thank you!

WALKERS: Walkers and joggers should always stay to the right, faster runners should pass on the left.  Walkers, please keep your groups down to two abreast so that others may pass you.

Since the Half Marathon course is open for 3 hours and 30 minutes, some walkers may desire to start EARLIER than the official start time so you can return to the finish before the finish line and expo close.  You may start up to 60 minutes early, and must notify the race director in advance that you wish to do so.

Please note that aid stations are operational and course marshals are officially on duty at the time the regularly scheduled half marathon begins and may not be operational when walkers first pass.

Groups/Teams Of 5 Or More
When you have a group of five or more, everyone saves $5! The way this works is as follows:
-Participant 1: Signs up first at full price and creates a TEAM. You will have to create a team name and a password so that only your group can sign up with you. (Click here for info on how to create a team.)-Participants 2 through 4: Register like normal making sure to join the team, at full price.
-Participant 5 and on: Signs up, joining the team as well, and notices their registration is $5 cheaper! WOO HOO!
Then, a $5 refund is automatically applied to participants 1 through 4 (assuming they paid at least $5.00 for the race)!
Cool, huh? Teams must be created or joined at time of registration. Team Rewards/Refunds will not be awarded retroactively. I.E: you must sign up for a team at registration to be eligible for the $5 discount or refund.
Click here for info on how to join a team when registering.

My coupon code/voucher isn't working; what do I do?  Thanks for your patience, this is an easy fix. First, DO NOT complete your registration. Please email us the voucher/coupon code, a little info on where you got it, and if applicable, a picture of the voucher/gift certificate. We'll get back to you shortly and look into why the code may not be working! If you're on a time crunch because of a price increase, don't worry, we'll honor it when we fix your code.

DOGS & STROLLERS: Your well behaved, leashed dog and well behaved, belted in child in a stroller are welcome at this event.

Headphones? Yes, you may run with headphones. We just ask that you leave one ear bud out or have the volume low enough to hear important announcements at the start/finish and volunteer/course marshal directions on the course!

Can my child run with me? Do I have to register them/pay for them? Of course your kiddo can participate!

If your child stays in the stroller the whole race, no, you do NOT have to register them as a separate participant.

Our rule is, if they are using their own two feet to participate in one of our races, then, YES, you do need to register them. This is due to safety, participant counts for city permits and calculation of materials needed for the race!

COURSE SURFACE & SUPPORT (AID STATIONS & TOILETS) Learn more about the courses on the Course Information Page!

TRANSFER DISTANCE/CANCEL REGISTRATION: Race registration fees are non-refundable.  If you already registered and will not be racing with us on race day, you are still welcome to pick up your packet (shirt, bib, goody bag) during advanced packet pick up.
Transferring from distance to distance on the same race day can be done through the registration site directly for no additional fee other than the difference in pricing, if any.  Log in to RunSignUp.com and click on the appropriate 'Transfer' tab at the top of the page. You can also transfer to another runner through that link.

If you are part of the packaged registration for the Hometown Race Series, you may NOT transfer to another participant or apply your registration toward future events.

If you want to transfer your registration to a different DATE of a 3W owned event, you can also do this through your RunSignUp account for a $15 fee. We will allow this when requested at least 72 hours BEFORE the start of the event.  Run Sign Up will take what you paid, less the $15, and apply to another 3W Races Event date in the same calendar year that you select.

Active Military Discount: Yes!  Send us your rank and branch to info@3WRaces.com and request a military discount code.  We'll send you a 10% off code that you use on all 3W events throughout the calendar year in which it is requested. (Does not apply to 'packaged or bundled' races or virtual events.)  You'll also receive special use instructions in the email at that time! Notes: may be required to show proof at time of packet pick up! Also, the 10% off code will not be valid for the HOMETOWN PACKAGE.

Sneakers 4 Funds

We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Sneakers4Funds to provide you with a socially responsible way to donate your gently worn, used or new sneakers and running shoes to a good cause we support! The sneakers will help benefit Growing Home as well as give a hand up, not a handout, to micro-enterprises in 25 developing countries. The athletic shoes will be kept out of landfills where they can take decades to fully decompose. Visit Sneakers4Funds to learn more!

It's super simple! All you need to do is bring your lightly worn athletic shoes and sneakers to the race (either race day or at packet pick up). We collect them and mail them and a donation is made to Growing Home!

Please donate only gently worn, used, and new athletic shoes.  These sneakers, trainers, and other athletic shoes will be worn again by people in developing nations, so please make sure there are no holes or soles falling off and that they are in wearable condition.  Dress shoes, sandals, brown shoes, flip flops, cleats, etc. and other shoes that are NOT athletic shoes will NOT be accepted.

Please tie your shoes together or put a rubber band around the pair!

VIRTUAL related questions/answers are below:

See the Race Info Page for the most recent information regarding this event and health protocols.

WHEN should I run this?
-> You can run this ANYTIME you desire!  Many participants will be running on the originally scheduled date/weekend, October 25, but that’s the benefit of a virtual event.  Only the RACE is virtual – the RUN is REAL, WHENEVER you choose to do it.  Want to run now?  That’s fine! Need to wait? That's fine, too.

WHERE should I run this?
-> That is 100% your choice.  You can run outside anywhere you'd like or take your miles to the treadmill!  If you choose to run outdoors, please take every precaution ordered in your area.

HOW should I run this?
-> Run any way that works for you!  If you’re signed up for the 13.1 mile race and your training has been thrown out of whack by recent events, then split it up!  Need to walk a mile a day for a couple of days to earn it?  Then do that!

How do I report my TIME?
->Virtual results submission links for each distance is active. now  You’ll be able to submit YOUR time through THIS LINK until November 15th.

Are TIMES verified?
-> No.  For the virtual event, times reported are on the ‘honor system’.

WILL RESULTS be posted?
-> You bet! As more and more people submit their time, preliminary results will be on the RESULTS page of the website.

Will participants be rewarded based on PERFORMANCE?
No, because participants are running in different locations, times, etc. we will not award anything based on performance.

HOW will I get my SWAG?
-> It will be sent through USPS.  If your address associated with this race is outdated, EMAIL US IMMEDIATELY, info@westyhalf.com We also recommend you update your profile too, but this will only affect FUTURE registrations. Go to RunSignUp.com Click on "Profile" where you may then edit your personal details.   If your address is not in RunSignUp, you may add it now.

WHEN will I get my SWAG?
-> Swag will be mailed the week of October 19th.

I paid more for the in-person event but see that the virtual event is cheaper.
-> Your registration fee is guaranteed until 12/31/2022. That means, if you wish to transfer out of the Westy event into another event, the fee you paid will go towards the new event. You may also request a voucher worth what you paid to use in the future. IF you decide to stay in the VIRTUAL event and you paid more than $40, you will receive a voucher for the difference of what you paid via email after October 25th.
