The purpose of this event is not only to increase overall awareness concerning Congenital Heart Defects (CHD), but to raise funds in furtherance of our mission to provide education, support, and encouragement for children with heart disease, their families, and caregivers.
CHD is the #1 birth defect in America, and we’re fighting every day to make a difference in the lives of Kentucky families affected by this condition.

Picking up for family, friends and team members is highly encouraged. The more racers that can pick up on Friday the better for all! Expect long lines for those picking up day of race event.

Race Venue
- Where will be the race be held? At Keeneland Race Course at 4201 Versailles Rd, Lexington, KY 40510. The Start/Finish line will be the further parking lot from the .
- What time does the race start? Both the 10K & 5K will start at 8:00am.
- What time should I arrive? Pre-registered folks should arrive by 7:00-7:15am. To register on race day, please arrive by 6:45am.
- Where will I park? Parking is available in the main parking areas near Gate 2 at Keeneland. You may enter the grounds through Gate 1 at Man-O-War and Versailles Rd until 7:15 am. After that you will need to enter through gate 2.
- How should I exit? Gate 2 will be open after the event as an exit, please be cautious of runners on Old Clubhouse Lane if you leave before the courses are clear. Gate 1 at Man-O-War and Versailles Rd will be closed between 7:30 am and until the section of the course on Keeneland Blvd is clear at approximately 9:30 am.
Race Registration
- When does online registration close? Online registration will be available through race morning.
- Can I register on race day? Yes! Race day registration will be available as long as the race hasn't sold out.
- What do I get for my 5K registration fee? Your registration fee includes a race t-shirt and bib number. NOTE: Race t-shirts are not guaranteed if you register after June 1st.
- What do I get for my 10K registration fee? Your registration fee includes a race t-shirt, finisher medal and bib number. NOTE: Race t-shirts are not guaranteed if you register after June 1st.
- Is there a benefiting charity? Yes, all proceeds benefit Kerrington's Heart Inc; a non-profit that serves Kentucky families with children battling congenital heart defects.
- Can I get a refund of my registration fee? Sorry. registration fees go to the benefiting charity and are non-refundable.
Race Participation
- When can I get my race shirt and race number? Packets will be available on race day starting at 7:30 am at the race site.
- Can I view a course map? Yes. Click here to view the 5K course map. Click here to view the 10K course map.
- Is the course totally on hard surfaces? Yes! The course is the paved roads at Keeneland.
- Is the course suitable for strollers? Yes. Pushing a stroller on the 5K course is possible. Please start in the back of the race pack. NOTE: We do not recommend pushing a stroller on the 10K course. The 10K course includes Van Meter Rd which has several challenging hills and may not be 100% closed to traffic due to the residences and farms on this section of the road. The 10K is only for those who run and can keep a 15 min/mile pace.
- Can I walk the race? Yes! Walkers are welcomed in the 5K run/walk.
- Can I bring my dog? Yes! Dogs on a fixed length leash are welcome. No retractable leashes please as they create a trip hazard. Owners will be responsible for cleaning up after their pet.
- What is your inclement weather policy? The race will be conducted rain or shine. In the presence of lightning at race start time, the start will be delayed 30 minutes or cancelled if lightning is still present after the 30 minute delay.
Race Timing/Awards/Results
- Will the race be timed? Yes! The 5K and 10K races will be timed by RaceRise. Results for these races will stream live and/or you can sign up for text messaging notifications and get a text message when you finish your race.
- Will awards be presented after the race? Yes there will be awards for the 5K and 10K races. Awards for the top 3 male and female finishers in each race will be presented as soon as possible after the race. Awards for the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups will be presented as well: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 and over.
- Will there be 'non-running' awards? Yes. Awards for Top Fundraiser, biggest team, Best Superhero Girl, Best Superhero Boy, Best Team T-Shirt, and Best Wonder Pet.
- Can I find my finish time online? We will provide a RESULTS LINK closer to the race.
