About Winter Classic 5K
Join us for a chilly run of the Winter Classic 5K!
Start and finish in beautiful downtown Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Make it a winter stroll or an all-out sprint down Mass Ave. The course is fast and flat so you can get back to the finish line sooner!
Festive attire is encouraged but not mandatory.

FAQs
What is included in my registration?
In addition to your collectible technical race t-shirt, you’ll receive a race bib with a timing chip, an invitation to the post-race party and two drink tickets to exchange for beverages provided by Castle Island Brewing Co.
Is the Winter Classic 5K open to all ages?
Yes! We have no age restriction on registration. If your young ones are comfortable with the 3.1 miles, sign them up to run along with you!
How do I know if I am registered?
After completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email from RunSignUp.com. You can also search for your registration on our Find A Participant page.
Can I transfer my race number to another person?
Yes! You can transfer your bib to another person up until packet pick up hours are over. The person you are transferring the bib to will only have to pay a small $20 transfer fee. Find out how here.
Can I transfer from the in-person race to the virtual race?
Yes! You can transfer your registration from the in-person race to the virtual race or vice versa. Find out how here. The deadline to transfer to the virtual 5K is Friday, December 5th @ 11:59PM.
Can I run with my dog?
For the safety of all runners, we do not allow animals on the race course.
Can I run with a stroller?
Yes! We are happy to have you & your little one join us on the race course. We kindly ask that you line up at the back of the starting line for the safety of all runners.
Are headphones permitted?
You may wear headphones. We ask that you keep the volume at a reasonable level for your own safety and out of courtesy for fellow participants.
Will there be portable toilets available?
Portable toilets will be available in the starting area of the race throughout the event.
Can I change the size of the shirt I ordered?
Yes, you can change your swag size until 11/7/25. Here's how.
How do I get my bib and swag?
You must attend bib pickup during the time frames and location communicated in the bib number email you will receive on the Monday of race week. Bib pickup will be available at the times listed below:
Saturday, December 6th from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM @ Le Méridien Boston Cambridge, Cambridge, MA
Sunday, December 7th (race day) from 8:00AM to 9:30AM @ 64 Sidney Street, Cambridge, MA
We strongly suggest you pick up your gear on Saturday to avoid the lines on race day.
Can someone pick up my bib for me?
Yes. They will need to know your bib number.
Can you mail my race swag?
All race items must be picked up during bib pick-up hours before the race. Swag will not be mailed unless you are registered for the Virtual 5K race.
I signed up for the 2025 Season Pass. When do I get my hoodie?
If you did not pick up your pullover at the Spring, Summer or Fall Classic 5K, you can do so at the Winter Classic 5K bib pick up on Saturday, 12/6/25 or Sunday, 12/7/25. You will receive an email the week of the race reminding you to pick up your hoodie.
Is there a bag check?
Yes. There is a bag check near the finish line. You can drop your bag in the fenced-off area before you proceed to the start line. Do not leave valuables behind. All bags are subject to search by the City of Cambridge Police. Please remember to pick up your bag immediately after you finish running. Bag check closes at 10:30AM.
Is there a course time limit?
Yes. Participants have one hour to complete the race.
Is the race timed?
Yes. The Winter Classic 5K is timed utilizing Mylaps BibTag technology. Timing chips are on the back of the race numbers. You will get them at packet pick up. Results will be calculated based on net time.
Do you allow refunds?
All entries are final. There will be no refunds or deferrals.

Can I create or join a team after I have registered?
You can create or join a team until the team deadline on Sunday, November 30th at 11:59PM. Here are the steps you can follow to make the change.

Is the race accessible by public transportation?
Yes, take the MBTA Red Line to Central Station.
How do I volunteer?
Volunteer registration opens November 10th. Click the Volunteer tab to see available shifts.
Where should I park on race day?
There is plenty of free on-street parking in areas surrounding the start of the race. Meters are off on Sunday. Please get to the event early if you plan to park. There is also plenty of parking available at the Green Street Garage and the Franklin Street Garage.
Is the course USATF certified?
Yes.
Will there be a water stop?
There will be a water stop at Henry Street at approximately the halfway mark. Bottled water is also available at the finish line.
I signed up for the Virtual 5K. Where's the information about what I should do next?
Amazing! You will be running from anywhere -- home or work, perhaps in a different state or country. All the information regarding how to upload your results, what kind of proof you need, when you will get your swag, etc. will be sent in an email the Tuesday before the in-person race. You have from Tuesday, December 2 to Sunday, December 14 to submit your time. You will also get reminders to submit your time before the deadline, Sunday, December 14.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VIP TEAMS FOR 2025:

Designed to reward our most loyal fans, the Team VIP Program is, hands down, the best way to experience any Classic 5K. For a team to qualify for the items outlined below, it needs to have a minimum of 20 members registered for the race by the team deadline of Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Your group can register as a Social Team or a Company Team.
Social teams are made up of friends, family, running buddies, work friends or any combination of the like.
Company teams are made up of employees from one company.
The team deadline is Sunday, 11/30/25 @ 11:59PM.
Get 19 of your closest friends or co-workers to join your team and receive the following:
Reserved tent and table in the post-race area
Cold beer waiting for your team after you finish
Pouring station near your tent
Largest Teams Win!
Awards will be given to the largest Social and Company Teams.
Prizes include a ridiculously oversized trophy.

SWAG
Runners can choose either a long sleeve gender-specific technical shirt or a cozy winter running hat when registering -- your choice! You can have BOTH for an extra $15. If you would like both, please register for your t-shirt size and add the hat on the next page. All race swag must be picked up during bib pick up hours before the race. Race swag will not be available after the race and it will not be mailed, unless you are participating virtually. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male, female and non-binary finishers AND the top 3 male and female finishers in each of the following age divisions:

Winners will be notified via email the Friday after the race. Awards are mailed approximately 2 weeks after the race as they are engraved. There is no day-of award ceremony.
