How Each Step Makes An Impact
The Mission of Evansville Goodwill
The mission of Evansville Goodwill Industries, Inc, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is to help people, families, and communities thrive through the power of relationships, education, and work.
About Evansville Goodwill
Goodwill has been around for more than 100 years and it was founded on the initial mission of providing a hand up not a hand out. For more than 85 years, Evansville Goodwill has been around with the intentions of continuing that by breaking down barriers to employment on a local level. When you think of Goodwills, think of them like franchises with more than 165 independent organizations across the U.S. and Canada. Each organization has its own CEO, Board of Directors, individual stores, and mission and programs because each organization is tasked with serving our local communities. The purpose of our stores is to fund our mission and programs. From our 14 stores across the tristate area, $.82 of every dollar goes to support our programs. This means that funding from our stores stays local and allows us to focus on helping those in need in our region of Southwestern Indiana, Northwestern Kentucky, and Southeastern Illinois.
By registering for this year’s Turkey Day 5k, you are bringing us closer to impacting the lives of more than 12,000 individuals without a high school Diploma in Evansville.
