AdventHealth Lake Apopka Scenic Trail 30K Run, 8 Miler & 5K

ADVENTURE LIKE NO OTHER! Experience nature and wildlife in this exciting 30K, Half Marathon, 8 Mile, and 5K trail run that meanders along Lake Apopka's shoreline!  

Lake Apopka is located 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Orlando. It is the third-largest lake in the state of Florida. The north shore of Lake Apopka is a haven for bird-watching, wildlife photographers, and nature lovers of all ages. The Lake Apopka Loop Trail follows the lake’s edge through the property, covering more than 20 miles and providing hiking and biking opportunities. The Loop Trail is expected to circumnavigate Lake Apopka in the future but is currently an out-and-back trail traversing the northern half of the lake. There are four trailheads for the Loop Trail with restrooms at the Green Mountain, North Shore/McDonald Canal boat ramp, and Magnolia Park trailheads and port-a-lets at the historic pump house. 

All events start and finish at Magnolia Park in Apopka. Participants will run along the Lake Apopka Loop Trail on the Lake Apopka Northshore, where birds, alligators, and other wildlife call home. The trail is mostly hard-packed limestone with scattered areas of grass, dirt, and gravel. To keep our wildlife friends safe this will be a cupless event. All athletes will need to have a water pack or handheld water bottle with them for this event.  

30K Trail Run:

18.6 mile out and back course. There are a total of four hydration stations along the 30K route with water, various supplies, and snacks. 

13.1 Mile Trail Run:

New for 2027, the Half Marathon course is and out and back course on the Lake Apopka Loop Trail.  

8 Mile Run:

The 8-mile run is an out and back course to the Historic Pumphouse on the Lake Apopka North Shore trail.

Swag & Awards:

All participants will receive a long-sleeved mesh tech shirt and finishers medal. Overall awards in each of the four distances to the top 3 Males & Females plus Master winners. Age group awards in 5-year increments 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, etc. 

Post-Race Food: 

Refueling never got so easy! Tons of salty snacks and warm food will be ready for you when you cross the finish line. Our food tent will be stocked with bananas, chips, granola bars, cookies, sodas, Gatorade, and much much more!

This event offers a $5 discount on the live race for youths ages 17 and under, and seniors aged 70 and over. The discount is automatically applied at the end of your race registration.

1. Entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be deferred unless you are a member of Sommer Sports Maniacs. 

2. Race management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to inclement weather, emergency, natural disaster or governmental interference.

3. Race management reserves the right to accept or reject all entry forms.

4. USAT sanctioned events only - In accordance with USAT policy, you must show either a photo id or driver's license to pick up a triathlon packet. The name on the race packet must match the id/dl provided.  You must also show proof of USAT membership or purchase a 1-day license.  No photo ID is required to pick-up a non-USAT Sanctioned run packet.

5. Sommer Sports has a NO REFUND policy. However, if you must withdraw from an event prior to 14 days of the event date, a discount code for 50% of your race registration fee will be provided to you. This discount code is valid for one year from the date of your request, and can only be redeemed towards a Sommer Sports owned event. No compensation will be provided within 14 days of the event that you are withdrawing from.

6. Most Sommer Sports events allow you to transfer your entry to another athlete by paying a minimal transfer fee as long as the transfer is completed 14 days prior to the event.
