Celebrating Children

Celebrating Children is a free community event in April offered by the City of Virginia Beach, GrowSmart and the Department of Parks and Recreation to celebrate healthy and happy childhood for all. As part of this event, families and children are encouraged to participate in a Fun Run at Mt. Trashmore Park. After the Fun Run, family resource exhibitors will be on-site with children's activities and information to share, along with entertainment, mascots, and inflatables. 

Important Note: 

Online pre-registration will close promptly at 11:30am on the day prior to the event (4/17/26).  Any additional interested participants are welcomed to register upon arrival at the registration tent. 

In-person/on-site registration will end at 9:30am on the date of the event.  

All race participants must begin the route no later than 9:45am on the date of the event.
