Extreme Adventure Challenge

Gather your team and prepare for two hours of strategy, endurance, and adrenaline on a 10K course across our 575-acre Versailles farm. With 18 distinct checkpoints—ranging from mountain biking and ziplining to archery and canoeing— you’ll test both physical and mental strength. Teams decide who takes on each challenge, competing in male, female, and mixed divisions for awards. Afterward, join the celebration with food trucks, music, and new community connections. Best of all, your registration funds scholarships and supports Life Adventure Center’s mission to empower trauma-affected individuals through outdoor adventure.

All participants will receive a race t-shirt, hydration and nutrition— and an incredible adventure!

What is the Extreme Adventure Challenge?
The Extreme Adventure Challenge is Life Adventure Center’s annual fundraiser. It’s a timed, two-hour adventure race covering approximately 10K, where teams compete to complete challenges and earn points.
Along the way, checkpoints will showcase many of the empowering, adventure-based programs Life Adventure Center provides to community partners.

How much does it cost to participate?
Registration costs $60–$100 per participant, depending on registration timing.

How many teams are participating?
Up to 30 teams, with teams of two or four participants.

About Life Adventure Center

Who does Life Adventure Center serve?
Life Adventure Center serves individuals and groups who have been impacted by trauma. Partners include organizations such as Amachi, Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation, Mentors and Meals, and military and first responder groups.

Why the Extreme Adventure Challenge?
Funds raised through this race support our scholarship fund, helping ensure access to Life Adventure Center programs. While we considered hosting a gala, a high-energy adventure race better reflects who we are and the spirit of our mission.

 
Race Day FAQs

What should I expect when I arrive on race day?
Before race day, teams will receive an email with safety briefings and important details.

On race day:

You’ll be directed to parking upon arrival.
Check in at the pavilion, where you’ll receive your team race packet, including a map of the property and all checkpoints.
Your team will have time to strategize your route to earn the most points within the two-hour window.
While this is a competitive event, participant safety is our top priority. Each checkpoint is facilitated by trained staff or volunteers, including:

A certified lifeguard for canoeing
A NASP-certified archery instructor at the archery range
Trained facilitators for the challenge course and zipline elements

How do the checkpoints work? Does everyone on the team participate?
There will be 18 checkpoints spread across the property.

Each completed challenge earns points.
Some challenges require the entire team, while others may require only one or two team members.
Instructions will be provided at each checkpoint.
Points are recorded on a punch card, which must be turned in at the end of the race. Follow us on social media for helpful hints and sneak peeks at upcoming challenges.

How do time tracking and point totals work?

The race begins and ends at the Brown Family Pavilion.
When your entire team returns and submits the punch card, your time will be recorded and points totaled.

Time adjustments:

Teams returning 10 minutes early earn a bonus point.
Teams arriving late lose 1 point per minute, up to 10 minutes.
Teams more than 10 minutes late are disqualified.
All team members must be present for time and scoring to count.

What should I wear on race day? Do I need to bring gear?

Wear clothing appropriate for running a typical 10K and outdoor adventure activities.
Two water stations will be available on the course. Participants may carry additional hydration if desired.
All required equipment—such as bikes, canoes, ropes, and fire-building materials—will be provided.
All necessary safety gear (helmets, harnesses, personal flotation devices, etc.) will be supplied, demonstrated, and collected at each checkpoint.

 
Miscellaneous Questions

I don’t want to race—can I come watch?
Yes! Spectators are welcome to come cheer on participants.
If you’d like to be more involved, we strongly encourage volunteering. Volunteers are essential to race day success.

What merchandise is included? What does the winning team receive?
Every participant will receive:

An Extreme Adventure Challenge race t-shirt, sponsor swag
The top male, female, and co-ed teams will also be announced at the awards ceremony following the race.
