One Step Closer to the Cure Castaway 5K & S.S. Minnow Mile

Grab your bucket hat and coconut water—join us for a tropical 5K adventure inspired by "Gilligan’s Island!" We’re running to raise awareness and support for Ovarian Cancer fighters, survivors, and research. Looking to go a shorter distance? Sign up for the S.S. Minnow Mile, a fun 1-mile event you can run or walk.

New this year is the Island Stiletto Dash where we “Walk in her shoes, so she doesn't have to go it alone.” It’s a spirited, crowd-favorite portion of the walk where men & women step into stilettos in solidarity. It’s awkward and unforgettable!

Dressing up is encouraged and we have some fun island-themed ideas in the works! Who will you come as... The Professor? Lovey? Marianne? An island native?

The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation's One Step Closer race has been a tradition for 23 years! Grab your friends, coworkers, and family and run, jog, or walk in beautiful Downtown St. Petersburg and help provide financial assistance to local patients and support research, prevention, and education in the community!

Participants will receive a medal, shirt, and post-race refreshments. Kick off the race season with us!

The course is USATF-certified with chip timing for the 5K.

INDIVIDUALS: Awards will be given to the overall top 3 males and females. Also, the top 3 male and female finishers will be given awards in these age group categories:

TEAMS: The team with the most participants will be honored with a special award. The biggest team in 2018 was Team TBT for Diane that had 108 entrants. Set your goal to be the top team. The team with the most funds raised also receives a special award!

The Details

• You can receive $10 back each time 3 friends sign up with your code, not to exceed your original registration amount. Refer up to 10 friends to receive $30 back from your $35 5K registration, and refer up to 6 friends to receive $20 back from your $25 1-mile registration. If you registered with a discount code, the refund will not exceed your original registration amount.
• The referral code is available in your email confirmation and pops up when completing the registration.
• The amount refunded will come directly from RunSignup and goes directly back to the credit card used to register.

From I-275 take the I-175 exit east onto 5th Avenue South. Turn left at 1st Street SE. Parking should also be available throughout downtown on the street and at city garages and lots for a fee; do not park in the Dali Museum lot. There is no parking at Albert Whitted Park. Albert Whitted Park is on the waterfront directly across from the Dali Museum.
