About Simon Greiner Mile Night

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our men's pace team and the men's Elite mile are both FULL! Entries for both pacers and the elite race are still open for female athletes. If you are an elite male and you have already communicated with us about racing, but haven't registered -- don't worry, we got you.

-----

Be a part of history in a twilight track meet starring the best high school, collegiate, and elite runners in Oklahoma and beyond! Like last year's race, we'll hold races for all ages and abilities, with the night culminating in star-studded high school and elite fields attempting to break state records and legendary barriers. As always, we'll have plenty of heats, dozens of pacers, and the perfect environment to crush your personal best. The race will be free to spectators, and we'll have vendors and music to enjoy between and during the night's races!

Mile Night registrations and donations help support the Simon Greiner Program, which helps OKC public school students succeed in life and reach their full potential by creating new and expanded opportunities to participate and excel in cross country and track & field. Click here to learn more about the history and mission of the Simon Greiner Program.

Order of events:

  • be bold. Running Elementary 800m - Two laps (half a mile) around the track for the little ones, with medals for all finishers courtesy of be bold. Running!
  • Middle School Mile
  • Matrix Fit Lab Open Mile - Running veterans and novices alike take a turn to test their four-lap speed and hash out friendly rivalries
  • High School Mile - Join the hundreds of high schoolers who have set PRs at Mile Night
  • Arnold & Smith Law High Performance Mile
  • Simon Greiner Elite Mile* - The fastest one-mile race ever to be run on Oklahoma soil, with over $11,000 on the line!

BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR - We will reserve one slot in the men's and women's elite fields so the fastest Oklahoma high schooler can compete alongside the best of the best! Last year's high school elites were Dominic Matthias (Moore, 4:12.35, fastest US freshman mile in 2025) and Bella Nelson (Owasso class of 2025, 4:39.67, unofficial high school state record).

We ask that all high schoolers still register only for the high school races. We will have target times for each heat based on the seeded entries, and pacers for as many heats as possible. After registration closes, the top high school boys' and girls' seed time from Oklahoma will be notified and moved to the elite field.

*The Elite standards are 4:10 for men and 4:50 for women. Runners who do not meet the standards should register for the High Performance or Open races. If there is still room in the elite fields after registration closes, we will reach out to the top seeds in the High Performance field about bumping you to the elite heat.

CHECK IN AND PACKET PICKUP

There is NO PACKET PICKUP this year! We unfortunately were unable to secure our bibs this year, so there really isn't anything to pick up for most runners.

Instead, your first point of check-in will be at the heating tables at least 20-30 min before your race. You will receive hip number stickers (mandatory to receive results), and you'll be marked off as present.

Then, you'll check in at the start line 5-10 min before your race steps on the track.

PAY ATTENTION to what races are running; if you miss your heat, there are NO reassignments or makeup races!

Since we don't have bibs this year to take home as a keepsake, we're working on a replacement goodie to make up for it. We'll announce those if it comes through, and they'll be available for pickup at our merch table, which will also have Mile Night t-shirts and hats available for purchase!

Rules and Track Etiquette

We want Mile Night to be an all-around good time, but there are a few rules we have to cover.
  1. No masks, costumes, or capes - you won't be allowed on the start line with one! This is a race, not a costume contest (but maybe next year).
  2. NO SPECTATORS on the track or infield until we invite the crowds down for the elite mile. Infield access is for athletes only. After your race, please collect your things and return to the stands.
  3. If you must cross the track, ONLY DO SO AT DESIGNATED CROSSINGS. And please, check the track before crossing.
  4. Remember track etiquette - whether you're at the start of the race or making a move to pass, move into the inside lane only when you have space to do so. Impeding another athlete's race may result in your disqualification. We're all at Mile Night to run fast, so be competitive, but don't get physical.
  5. There are ABSOLUTELY NO RACE DAY HEAT CHANGES.
  6. Pay attention to the announcer - if you miss your race, we can not move you to another heat.
  7. Run fast, cheer loud, and give it your all!
