About StMU 5K for the Neighborhood
Since 2014, the StMU 5K for the Neighborhood has helped serve the needs of people who live near the St. Mary’s Gateway District. Through the race, Holy Rosary Catholic Church receives $10,000 to enhance services and outreach programs in the neighborhood. The church is run by Marianist priests and brothers and is located next to the St. Mary’s campus.
Each year we continue our purpose to serve and support our neighbors. Proceeds from the 5K support the partnership between St. Mary’s and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The church’s mission is to enhance services, outreach programs and the quality of life in the neighborhoods around the University.
About
About the StMU 5K for the Neighborhood
Proceeds from the StMU 5K for the Neighborhood are used to assist nonprofits serving the needs of residents in neighborhoods surrounding the St. Mary’s University campus.
In 2025, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, which is administered by Marianist priests and brothers, and is adjacent to the St. Mary’s campus, received donations to enhance services and outreach programs in the St. Mary’s Gateway District. Past recipients include the United Way, the Neighborhood Place and St. Vincent de Paul Society. Proceeds from previous 5Ks improved family assistance programs and parenting education services for those in surrounding neighborhoods with limited resources.
About St. Mary's University

St. Mary's University is a Catholic and Marianist university in San Antonio, Texas. At St. Mary’s, we ensure our students complete an excellent liberal arts education in good time. We help students discover, affirm and cultivate their unique talents and gifts. We prepare each student to enter the world with the skills and motivation to make a difference.
Students experience a nurturing and vibrant community atmosphere that encourages and facilitates community engagement, undergraduate and graduate research, faculty mentoring and service learning. The strong community environment is rooted in the University’s Catholic and Marianist commitments to providing a holistic education in a faith-centered, family-spirit environment.
As a Catholic and Marianist University, we foster the formation of deep Christian faith in our students and educate ethical leaders for the common good. For more than 165 years, our Marianist brothers and lay faculty and staff have gently mentored St. Mary’s students to graduate with generous spirits and humble hearts, and to view their careers as vocational journeys, not simply jobs.
St. Mary’s is known for quality academic programs and excellent faculty. All undergraduates take the St. Mary’s Core Curriculum, which broadens students’ knowledge and transforms their understanding of their place in the world and their social responsibilities. These courses also develop crucial skills employers seek, such as critical thinking and problem-solving.
The enduring values of integrity, respect for others, humility and a collaborative orientation are uniformly prized by employers, patients, clients and customers. St. Mary’s graduates overachieve in the workplace and find financial success, and aspire to lives purposefully lived.
