The Dublin Trail Challenge – "The Dublin 26"

The Dublin Trail Challenge is officially returning this fall. Join us from September 7 through October 11, 2026, for the Dublin 26 and challenge yourself to get active while exploring the City of Dublin.

Challenge Options

Walk, Hike, or Run Challenge

  • Complete a total of 26 miles anywhere within the City of Dublin
  • Miles can be completed all at once or over multiple days
  • All miles must be tracked and recorded using the RaceJoy application
  • Choose from recommended trails, neighborhood parks, or your own favorite routes around the city

Bike Challenge

  • Complete a total of 65 miles all at once or over multiple days
  • All miles must be tracked and recorded using the RaceJoy application
  • Participants should begin their rides in Dublin but are welcome to continue into surrounding cities as part of their mileage

Participants are encouraged to explore the community in their own way. Whether you are discovering a new trail, visiting a local park, or enjoying neighborhood streets and surrounding areas, the Dublin Trail Challenge is designed for all fitness levels and abilities.

How to Participate

  1. Register for the Dublin Trail Challenge at runsignup.com
  2. Download and use the RaceJoy application on your phone to track and record your miles
  3. Complete either:
    • 26 miles walking, hiking, or running, or
    • 65 miles biking
  4. Finish and record all miles by October 11, 2026

All registered participants who successfully complete and record their miles by the deadline will receive a commemorative 2026 Dublin Trail Challenge t-shirt.

Manually Log Miles

  1. Go to Results page.
  2. Click “Submit Virtual Results”.
  3. Under “Participant Lookup” look up yourself using your name or email address.
  4. Click “Log Activities”. Complete the requested information – run or walk, miles completed, and elevation gain.  
    In upper right corner of same screen click “Load Activity from File”.  Upload file from your Garmin, Apple Watch, FitBit, or any device you already use.

Safety First!

 

Urban Hiking Safety Tips

  • Plan your route, check the weather, and tell someone where you're going.
  • Bring water, a charged phone, and ID.
  • Stay aware of traffic, cyclists, and your surroundings.
  • Keep valuables out of sight and stick to well-lit, populated areas.
  • Use maps, but don't walk while staring at your phone.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
  • Follow pedestrian signals and be cautious at crossings.
  • Avoid restricted or abandoned areas.
  • Carry a small first-aid kit for minor injuries.
  • At night, wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight.

Every registered participant who completes the Dublin 26 by Friday, October 11th will receive a commemorative event t-shirt.

Participants who finish the 26-Mile Challenge will be invited to our T-Shirt Pick Up Day at:

Tracking Your Miles

To receive credit for your progress, participants may track their miles using the RaceJoy app or manually log miles from a tracking device or fitness app of their choice (such as Garmin or Strava). Please see the "Manually Log Miles" tab for instructions on entering miles manually.

As a courtesy, all registered participants will receive a RaceJoy invitation via email, allowing them to access the Dublin Trail Challenge and be recognized as an official participant. We strongly encourage participants to use RaceJoy, as it automatically tracks and uploads your mileage and progress directly from your smartphone. If you plan to use RaceJoy to track your miles, please visit the "Using RaceJoy" tab for setup and tracking instructions.

Using RaceJoy

How to Track Your Miles in RaceJoy for the Dublin Trail Challenge

  1. Download the RaceJoy app and load the official Dublin Trail Challenge trails map onto your smartphone.
  2. Sign in to RaceJoy, or create an account if you don't have one yet, find the Dublin Trail Challenge event, and select "I Want to Be Tracked."
  3. Walk, run, hike, or bike the official Dublin Trail Challenge trails.
  4. When you are ready to begin your activity, open RaceJoy, tap Track Me, and start the timer.
  5. Complete your activity while carrying your phone with you.
  6. When you finish your activity, stop the RaceJoy timer. Your time and distance will automatically be recorded and submitted.
  7. Repeat this process for each walk, run, hike, or bike ride throughout the challenge period.
  8. Check the Dublin Trail Challenge website to view your progress and results.

Tips

  • Make sure your phone is fully charged before each outing.
  • Keep Location Services enabled.
  • Carry your phone for the entire activity.
  • Confirm your activity was recorded before starting another session.
