Martinsburg's Annual Fall Race of the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival! The Apple Trample Tradition Continues — Better Than Ever. New Course! New Time!

 
Join us for the annual WVU Hospitals East Foundation's Bob Baronner Apple Trample 5K as part of the Apple Harvest Festival activities! 
It's a fun morning of running and walking with family, friends and even your beloved four-legged friends can join in the fun.  

Proceeds raised support the WVU Hospitals East Foundation Cancer Comfort Fund, which provides resources and assistance to cancer patients.

RACE DETAILS & INFORMATION

RACE COURSE 

RACE NOW STARTS and FINISHES in the same location!  War Memorial Park on Tennessee Ave in Martinsburg.

COURSE:  The route starts at War Memorial Park. The course takes you through the neighborhood and out to a left on King Street and follows the Apple Harvest Parade Route. From King Street, the route turns left on Maple Ave to right on Burke Street to right on Queen Street.  Runners/Walkers will turn around at the corner of Queen and Stephen St and head back to the park.  

POST-RACE CELEBRATION
At the finish line you will enjoy a post-race party and awards ceremony featuring local apples and other goodies.  Awards to the top male and female runners plus the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female winners within each age group will receive an award immediately following the race. 

AWARDS
Overall top Man and Woman (Overall winners will be excluded from age group awards.) 
Age Groups 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for both male and female. 
Age groups include: <9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, >70
NEW* A youth that participates from a stroller (for all or part of the event) will not be considered a timed participant and will not be eligible for any awards. 

TIMING 
All runners and walkers will be timed.

Registration starts at War Memorial Park at 7:30am


PACKET PICK-UP 
Packet pickup will only take place on Race Day Morning at War Memorial Park.

RACE PROCEEDS SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY 
The Apple Trample 5K benefits the WVU Hospitals East Foundation Cancer Comfort Fund and Cancer Services, helping provide financial assistance and critical resources to community members battling cancer. Proceeds also support the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival Committee and its community impact initiatives. Supporting the Apple Trample 5K is a fun way to promote the health and wellbeing of our community!

The Apple Trample route follows historic city streets along the Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival Parade Route. New this year - start at finish at War Memorial Park. 

Thanks to Martinsburg Police Department for their generosity in providing direction and blocking traffic for this special event.

Q: Is this event mainly for runners or open to all? 

A: Runners, walkers, and wheelchair participants are all welcome to join the fun. This family-friendly event encourages individuals of all ages and abilities to come out and enjoy a festive morning together. Whether you're racing to the finish or taking a leisurely stroll, we’d love to have you be part of the celebration!

Q: What is the timing of the 5K? 

A: The race officially starts at 9 AM. Participants are encouraged to complete the 5K within 1 hour and 15 minutes.


Q:  Are strollers allowed in the event? 

A:  Yes, strollers are allowed and encouraged. If you are participating with a stroller containing a child or pet, you are highly encouraged to start at the back of the group. Throughout the race, you must keep a safe distance and yield to all other participants. You are responsible for the safety of both yourself and the passenger in the stroller. A youth that participates in the event from a stroller (for all or part of the event) will not be considered a timed participant and will not be eligible for any awards. 

Q: Are dogs allowed to participate in the event? 

A: For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, we kindly ask that participants with dogs start toward the back of the group. Please keep your pup on a short, non-retractable leash and maintain control at all times. Be mindful to keep a safe distance from other participants and yield as needed throughout the race. And of course, don’t forget to clean up after your furry friend before, during, and after the event. Let’s keep the course safe and enjoyable for all—two- and four-legged racers alike!

Q: Will transportation be available from the race finish area back to the race start area? 

A: No need for transportation this year!  Start and finish line at War Memorial Park!
